My grandfather finally confirmed that he will be passing his 99 SL500 on to me after my years of helping him from time to time on the car and making hints at it being passed on to me. Im new to the MB world, v8 world. Im used to the JDM/ turbo spectrum. However, Im looking forward to keeping his 500 period correct , maintained to live long, and bit of electronic upgrading for my taste. Here's a graphic I made on photoshop after getting the news. Amazing I wish I were the true twin with the AMG engine. I’ve just have the 500 sport so only AMG styling. However gotta be appreciative of what I’m receiving. Taking notes on how to take this 500 to the next level.
Before you hate. My dad was sick and didn't have a long time to live. He always wanted a white and black SL500 with black and white interior. So I found this one. White on tan and converted it to what he wanted. The paint is obnoxious. The black has gold metal flake with a holographic micro flake over the gold. My dad loved everything gold. So here it is. It hasn't been driven in about a year and a half. I just changed all the fluids and will likely have to get new tires from sitting.

He loved it. He was known around town for the guy with the mercedes convertible with the big white dog who's head stuck above the windshield. We ended up getting an r230 for him to drive while this one was down and then we had an slk320 and slk230.
I haven't driven it much. I just replaced all 12 control arms and shocks so it still needs an alignment. Hopefully I'll get that done next week. I have been putting together a turbo build for it. I have everything I need to slap a turbo on there. I haven't decided which route to take with that part.
It has a massive stereo that goes back in soon. I have some electrical gremlins I have to figure out first.

1992 500SL in 2 tone white. I treated myself 6 yrs ago when I was 31 as I always loved these and my dad was always a Benz owner for the most part.
Notice the rainbow sun flare - I thought it was nice. Ready to gobble up some highway.! Desert Silver SL500 in her natural environment. Was a great day to drive from Whister to Kamloops.
From a recent road trip - we have had ours (1999 model) for 18 years - bought used at 3 years old. After a 800 mile road trip - I treated her to a 4 hour spa session. Taking all the crap we had accumulated out of the nooks & crannies. Have not taken pics yet.

Why is the hard top on already? We drive comfortably till 55 degrees F / 15 C - without the heater on. Less with heater / seat warmer / sweater / hat.

Hello there neighbor! The car has 99K miles on it. The photo was taken outside my detailer's about to go in for a paint correction and some touch-up paint, hence that's why the hard top was on. Plan to do more top-down driving at least through the fall season. It won't get driven too much during the winter, only on nice days.
My new Silver Arrow. Just ordered all top cylinders, refurbished front bumper, new suspension. Getting a paint correction and ceramic coated next weekend. 130,000 miles 3 owners.
