SL/R129: Goodbye, Maybe??

I think the last (or one of the last) people to post ON topic was Chris, who has a good point:
"Think of it this way.
If your Dad was in the position to "give" you the SL 600 ... I'm sure the "savings" in gas would not be of much comfort to him.
If I were him, I would be very "proud" to have brought such pleasure to my child.
Have you checked with him? If he would really want you to do this "for him"?
Although I do not have children. Once done (giving such a great present) ... I imagine that I would rather starve to death, than take such a gift away from a loved one.
Chris

Buddy, rest assured, I have things well under control with the 600. Replacing it was just an idea I was toying with...the inevitable depreciation hit was a concern. But hey, my intention was to really put some miles into the car over the next few years. They say it is bulletproof, I plan on finding out.

Never actually drove the 5000 lb CL. Nor the CLK55 I was also contemplating. Drove the SL, and fell in love with it. Now I know, sounds ridiculous to have such a car at this age, but my Dad said he got because he knew I could appreciate such a car. Maybe this can explain to some why I was so willing to be of help. As for handling it, heh, my Dad has a very unique way of teaching one how to drive. Been learning for a while before my license this past December. Honestly, I love it! As for depreciation, my Dad said probably best to hold onto it. Even when I go away to college, it will be a weekend car for fun. But thanks to the forum guys for being sympathetic, I truly mean that. That's actually what I love about the R129 forum, we're all for enjoying the SL's and driving them like they're meant to be driven.
waste of time...........Good luck with your 'issues'...

I was wondering, are you still interested in those wheels/tires? I didn't sell them yet. But if your not, that's completely fine, just tell me so I can list them in the classified's section. Thanks.

Gas is getting $$ but we have instituted measures to reduce the amount consumed. We carpool, drive the 300TE instead of the 600 when possible, and just cut back on driving. Saves us about 200 a month in fuel....

I am looking to buy something with a staggered setup. Preferably AMG Mono Bloc. I guess I will pass on the offer. Though the price is excellent.
