on a 1999 500sl...can anyone tell me what the "sport package" is? thanks

SL500 Package Options
SL1 Sport Package ($4,995)
AMG designed sculpted lower body aerodynamic enhancements, to include:
Front apron with mesh air intake
Contoured rear apron
Sculpted side skirts with Sport emblems
Halogen projector-beam front foglamps
245/40ZR18 front and 275/35ZR18 rear, low profile high-performance tires.
8.5Jx18" front and 9.5Jx18" rear, staggered-width AMG 5 spoke monoblock alloy wheels.
Front offset 25mm & Rear offset 23mm, with 5x112 bolt pattern.
Note: Suspension and steering calibrations are unchanged by the Sport Package.
SL2 Value Added Package ($1,820)
Xenon headlights w/ automatic level control w/o headlight washer/wiper.
Integrated trunk-mounted 6-Disc CD changer.
Electrically Heated Seats.

thanks lynns for fast reply. Im new to benz. this car im trying to buy has the wipers on the headlights? could this mean not true sport? thanks again!!!!

you could have an Sport Package with out SL2 value added package...... hope to clear thing up........
An sport package is just AMG body kit and wheels.......

sport package
seems this 1999 i bought this weekend has options from both packages. I still have wipers on lights...have the sport badges on side..has 6 cd changer in trunk. but all four tires are 245.45 r17 but the wheels are the five star alloy wheels.

Sounds like you got a car that had a stand alone CD changer added. It also sounds like you got a Sport model and somewhere along the line the 18" rims and tires that are a part of the Sport package got changed out. I wish you would have gotten the 18" wheels as you should have if it has the Sport emblem on the lower planks. The 18" AMG rims are very expensive as a single add on.

The example B is the sport package....... see the AMG body kit and wheel.....

didnt get the real sport package
Apparently some past owner was doing a "fake out". the car has no amg body kits, no xenon lights just sport badges on lower side panel and a six cd changer in the trunk. Being new to this forum I really appreciate all the expert input from you "ALL" as we say it texas. didnt do to bad on puchase shes's black exterior, gray interior, perfect shape except she needs engine and trans. mounts. paid $16,700 cash. 71,000 miles.....
