SL/R129: Need HELP! 91 SL

Need HELP! 91 SL
As I am driving my car and I use the turn signals, ALL of the warning lights on the dash light up and the radio cuts off for a second. At first, it only happened once and a while, but now it happens on a regular basis. Now, it looks like the problem has progressed...some times the car completely cuts off when I hit the brakes...It happened last night, and I could not get the car re-started for about a min...Thanks in advance for any advise

I saw something like this about three times in the past. The lights would flash just as you hit the turn signal. I replaced the clusters for the repair. I actually still have two in my toolbox I used as testers. The w140 and w129 were interchangable. I don't remember an issue with the radio though.

I had the same problem and i changed a fuse (inside the front hood) and the broblem solved! I got terriffed when all the warning lights turned on... reminded me the ''knight rider'' 
replace the fuses! Start from that easy to do it yourself and cheap! Hope this helped!

The problem with the dash lights may be a faulty capacitor on the instrument cluster circuit board. It is easy to replace, and the procedure has been successfully done by me and many others. See this thread: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/r129...question.html?

Thanks bobterry99, I will also check the capacitor...the picture in the link is great...do I have to solder any connectors?

I have learned.....
I have learned, from experience, that when I have a problem with the electrical system in the car to replace the fuses first. They may not look bad but the original fuses were aluminum which reacted with the copper connections to cause corroding. You can now find copper replacement fuses at some auto stores. Good luck!
