What's it worth? 1990 500SL AMG
I am thinking of selling my 1990 500SL AMG.
Blk/Blk with black chrome trim.
80,000 mi
AMG 3-piece wheels
New SP2 tires
3rd owner
Complete records incl window sticker!
Located in CA since new.
No history of damage.
Overall in very nice condition.
I may consider trading plus $$$ for a MINI S with JCW package or a MINI GP
*Does anyone know where there is a MESSERSCHMITT KR201 Roadster available for sale?

It all depends on two factors.... The condition. and your buyers taste...
I for one like it but Put the value conservativley at about 9k to 12k. (condition drivin and how and what type of maintence you have done.)
I also am considering selling my car but my reasons are for a baby on the way. My 91 300sl is a 5 speed manual and my wife does not drive a manual. I have a buddy that might like your car. what city are you in. Im in Costa Mesa. If your looking for an interesting trade look at my collection and let me know what interests you. JJ

Thanks for your replies, Kelly BB gives a value of $15,350 for Private sale and almost $18,000 for Retail. I am thinking it has a higher value than estimated. Especially considering that it has the OEM AMG aero package and AMG 3-piece wheels not included in Kelly BB values. And yes, it really is in very good condition.

Market price
I appreciate the opinions everyone has shared. Considering that Kelly BB places the value at demonstrated sales, not speculation, I will be placing the car up for sale at an asking price between Private Party value and Retail value. (Trade-in value is listed at over $13,000) This will allow an excellent value to the buyer for the extra consideration of the AMG aero kit and AMG wheel package. Asking price $16,500 with a little room to negotiate. I am happy to drive it until it sells Or, I may just trade it in if it does not sell for close my asking price.

Plus 1.... And on that note. If you want to see a rare car sell on ebay. watch mine. I will be listing it soon. There were only 160 5 speed sls ever sold in the US and Mine is no questions the cleanest one you will find. Im realistic in when I say my car will most likely top out at 13 to 14 if im Lucky...

I use Edmunds as a good benchmark but maybe the CA market is different.
Good luck with the sale and I hope you get top dollar. Our cars certainly deserve it.

KBB is pretty much worthless as far as "real world" numbers go, try calling KBB and see if they will buy your car for the numbers they quote.

id be willing to make a bet!!! not trying to be an ***, but realistic.
i dont think your car is old enough to get "rare" plastered on it. but wait 5 more years, and keep the miles off, and it might be a diffrent story. im going through the same crap with my E500.

I have been watching SL's on Ebay for a month or two. I have never seen a 1990 sold for over 10,000.
Just got a very nice 2001 for $19,000, (+ $10,000 under KBB), so it seem to be a buyers marked at the moment.
Have a feeling that KBB listing is way, way over reality.
Sorry mate.

I agree a great time to buy.. However it all comes down to the buyer and if they like your car if your selling what he likes. Oh and condition. JJ
PS I will get more than 13 for my car. Guaranteed. Look for updates. JJ

Here in the north east in NJ there is a white 300sl stick, and the guy can't move it.
Don't know if it because it is a 6 or because of the stick.
The car is, really nice.
