This is the R129 SL forum my friend (model years 1989-2002). You are seeking an R230. Absolutely gorgeous car, but I would shy away from the M2003...first year production with a good deal of gremlins. The later the year, the better...and an extended warranty will give you peace of mind for the next few years.

Model year 2003 was not the first of the R230. The car war released in fall 2001 (MY2002) in Germany - so MY 2003 is the 2nd year of the R230.
The car appeared later in the US, so the first cars sold in the US were MY2003.

This is true. So to be completely accurate, first year production for "US" models. Same deal with the W220, it was introduced as 1999 model overseas. We had one of the first 2000 models...real PITA with repairs. Same deal with the 2003 R230. So, for the earlier models, try to avoid them.
