SL/R129: R129 Brembo big brake kit for sale

How do you like them, btw? I talked to someone else who did the upgrade, they said the improvement in braking above 100mph was very noticeable.

It may be possible to fit slightly larger rear brakes, but modifications would be required, the cost would likely be double or triple what the 300 rears would cost, and you could end up with unbalanced braking... you want to retain good balance so the car doesn't get unsettled under hard braking, or trail braking. I'd stick with the 334 front & 300 rear setup on a R129, as CCW mentioned this was the factory setup on the last 4 years of R129 production...

humm.. how much for the rears then? discount for returning customer?

You can get either plain or cross drilled rotors to match (front and rear), click here for a photo of the rotors...

If you can get your hands on some rear E55K calipers, S55K rear rotors, and about 1 hour of a machinists time, you could put those on the back, but at 330mm in the back, you would need to get bigger in the front. It is not a true bolt on, just so you know. You can read my posts on 500ecstasy.com about it. The 500E and R129 are more or less the same in suspension. The stoptech kit is looking better and better in the front IMO.
search 1994 E500 www.stoptech.com, it's the same as your SL more or less. Stoptech needs to make a rear kit for this and your car, but I bet the market isnt really there.

As you said the 330x26 rears could fit (with a few mods). But I agree they might be too large, and could mess up the front/rear brake bias.
I have a 94 SL500 and Im thinking of upgrading my stock brake system especially that my drum wheels are now almost as thin as an old vinyl disc... lol
Anyway, I was searching in various forums for more than 3 months and didn't see anyone giving a clear indication on which AMG brake calipers+drums set that may fit my R129!
I mean, besides the classic answer: yeah! The silver arrow edition is the perfect bolt on set up for all R129; none has given the alternative.
Not that I would hate install a SA edition brakes on my ride; but since I'm looking for a used brake system I'm not willing to spend big bucks(talking about a brand new set of SA edition brakes) on this upgrade. And where I'm located for the moment I know for sure it's impossible for me to find a SA edition being parted, in any junkyard ...
Yet AMG models like E class/C class/ S class I can find...
to make it short, can you please help me out and tell me which particular AMG model brake system I have to look for to finally stop the search and buy the correct set up??
From what I understood, the correct pattern would be 6 piston caliper in the front and 4 piston in the rear.
please answer me...
thanks in advance...
