SL500 + K&N's + Exhaust + Tune ??

Had a customer come in with his SL500 wanting to enhance its performance, after a breif dicussion with the customer,we decided on a exhaust system/k&n filters & powerchip tune, the v8 engine being a tight fit in the engine bay and not enough demand,i will be making the exhaust system from the headers bak & also leaving the stock rear muffler as the customer doesnt want it too loud.I will be hand making the system, below is the be4 run on the dyno...

Heres some dyno footage of this SL500 and the dyno sheet, didnt make huge numbers but the torque pickup in the low mid range was increadible,on the street it was torquey as hell, quite a dramatic improvement over the stock pipes which are so tiny.

The pipes look nice but it seem like a perfect way to waste money for relatively no power gain, no punch intended.

What does the M113 mean on your chart?

Study the torque graph thats where the action is,it made a huge torque gain,on the road it was very noticable, part throttle response was incredible, what your looking at the graph is the figure between 193 kw and 198 kw,thats happening at 200km/ph at full noise, how often are you operating your vehicle there ? look at the top graph which shows a huge torque gain between 60km/ph to 160km/ph under 4800rpm,i think thats where we spend most of our time and thats where it made power and torque. The m113 is suppose to be the enginee code, forgot to update it.

Not sure how the parts and labors cost where you are but the in the States, those would cost about at least half the price of that car (96-98 model, right? - definitely not a M113). That SL would cost aroun $8K here.

That is why I said "waste money" and "relatively no power gain". Besides, how can a person "feel" the different between 193.2kw vs. 198.2kw (a gain of only 5 kw?)

Again, as I sait, it is a nice work but to me, it's not worth the time and money.

Its 266hp at the treads, like i was trying to explain ,inspect the torque graph, which is the upper graph, theres been a healthy gain, this is what the customer will feel.

As i tried to explain to you before, you arnt listening to what i,m saying, will the customer feel the difference between 193kw vs 198kw ? hardly, but thats at 200km/ph at full throttle, study the upper graph on the dyno sheet thats "torque" theres been a healthy gain in the low and mid un der 4800rpm,thats what the customer is gonna feel, the car was super strong to drive.some cars just dont make much top end power as other, but i believe theres gains in the low and mid to be had, thats where most of the driving takes place .
