Put new tires on my SL 600, now I have a high speed vibration.
Were would I look for to solve this problem?

Stupid question but does that have something to do with balancing the tires?

The first set were balanced two times, not much difference, then had the second set put on.

What does high speed mean? Is it at the same speed each time? What is the road surface? All corners or R/L Front/Back? Any steering drift?
Tell us year and location.

High speed is 120mph, same speed, road condition is expressway, vibration is coming from the rear of car, no drifting,

if the vibration is the same with any set of tires at a speed, then I look to the structure of the suspension. bushings, pivot connecting points etc.
If the vibration is speed related, ( mild at 70 gone at 50, or 90, wild at 120) then I think balance, tire construction, balancing equipment.
When I replaced the nitrogen spheres on the 600 the ride and road vibration lessened.
As an old person my greater issue is with noise, since in Kansas 80mph is about a fast as I can go without my friends in law enforcement and those on the bench taking a punitive stance on my behavior. ;(

I looked at the area were the drive shaft connects to the rear end, I noticed some rust around a bolt. Would this be a good area to disassemble to see if this universal is bad. Might explain the vibration? Any special tools needed to take this apart or any thing to watch out for?
