If so ... congrats. What a great spirit to be looking to mod you SL.
By the way the RedMongoosE is geourgious with the front clear turn signal covers, crome wheels and red with tan interior! A great coulor / trim combination

Congratulations. What a geogeous car. Glad to hear that you enjoy it so much.
I guess that does not change if you are 49 (me) or 17 (you). We all love the R129!
Average age droping fast ... up to 90-500SL, now 70 responces average age 36.8 years old.
I would hazard a guess that on those special driving moments that we have from time to time, we all feel 17 again.

I'm new to the forums, so hello all. I'm 20 years old. My family currently owns 6 cars. The two main cars I drive are the 2001 BMW 330xi and the 1999 Mercedes Benz SL500. I am thrilled to be a part of the boards. I hope you all can educate me with your combined extensive knowledge. Thanks!

Currently 27, and am responsible for the 300SL-24 that seems to want to fall apart at the shut lines but still motors on like a trooper. Cannot wait for the day a R230 sits where she's sitting right now, but I know I'll miss the R129, having spent many a year cruising top down with music blaring.

SL500 2001 Formula 1 Edition;
I never tell my EXACT age.
Let's just say I'm 40 ish. plus a couple. LOL.
Cars I've owned (includes ex-wife's cars), maybe in order:
My stepfather had a MB 240 Diesel in the late '70's that I learned to drive in. Slow, but a great car.
Then . . .
1971 Monte Carlo
1974 VW Dasher (LIME GREEN)
1966 VW Sq. Back
1979 Toyota Celica
1980 Dodge Colt RS
1982 Capri White Lighting (Like the revived Mustang GT 5.0)
1980 Datsun B-210
1982 Dodge Colt
1985 VW GTI
1985 Dodge Colta Vista Wagon
The down on my luck period:
1985 Mustang (crappy 4 banger)
1994 Ford Escort
Doing Better:
1997 Mustang V-6
1995 BMW 325
1999 BMW 528 Wagon w/sport suspension
1999 Olds Alero
2000 Ford Crown Victoria runs on Compressed Natural Gas (Allows Single Rider in Carpool Lane)
2004 Olds Alero
2001 MB SL500 w/Designo and Sports Package
The econo-boxes like the 2nd Colt and the Datsun were beaters that I had when I had a low-paying job that required me to put about 30,000 miles per year on my cars. The Colt RS was kinda cool, with one of those Split shifters that gave you 8 gear ratios. The original GTI was GREAT!
But my recently purchased SL 500 is the best, greatest, most wonderful. I am so in love!
