SL/R129: 94 SL 600 ASR light - Safe Mode
1. I took the cluster out for repair and drove the car - Started running in safemode
2. Put the cluster back in and reset the computer with the key/gas peddle to the floor and 2 minute wait. Fixed the cluster but didn't take it out of safemode
3. Took her to an Indy and they put it on the computer. Couldn't get the car to come up on the computer however, when I left she was no longer in safe mode. Drove for about 30+ miles, pulled into the driveway and she went back into safemode.
4. I have also unhooked the battery - Nothing changed.
5. ASR light is on when in safe mode
I have it at a new Indy - Just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts other than the wiring with the fact that it came out of safemode when it was first put on the computer.
Thanks
The instrument cluster removal may have cracked the wiring insulation. (Many other wire manipulation of ant kind has started problems for my 600! ) Harness replacement does not renew all the wires!!!
The 94 has the old diagnostic blink system and the early digital system. clearing all the codes is important, but I would look at the wiring!
