Exclamation R129 Rare Color

Hello everyone,

I need help regarding my 1992 500SL. I own this car for some time now and I never seen one in the same color. After some research, I found out that's an incredible rare color (256 - Crystal Green), only built from 91 to 93, and records show only 2 cars were ever built in 1993. My VIN is WDB1290661F063761.

And the spec is - https://www.datamb.com/vin/Grj0VEMgQ18AOlM4n

I was wondering, how many cars were actually built over the 3 year period?

Any help would be wonderful.

PS - Yes I know, incredible hard and specific question!

Thanks

Do you mind sharing where you found the production numbers by color? I'd like to know how many were made in my color (Black Opal) in 1997 or overall production.

Hello there,

I got it from the R1129 Club Germany book,

I do not know your color in german, so take this as a special gift. This is a payed book.

As I mentioned, my car only has recordings in 1993, where 2 were built. Would love to know how many in 1991 and 1992.

Thanks

Thanks for posting those pictures! Much appreciated. My color is 189 - Smaragd Schwarz. Not rare as I hoped. Doesn't matter. I love the color.

Cladding color

I like the color so much I think the lower cladding and bumpers should be painted the same as well.

On many two-tone combinations of Mercedes cars of this era, the cladding color detracts from the potential the car has for overall looks.

Your SL is a perfect candidate for all one color, although that would hurt the originality. With such low odometer reading, maybe it's best to keep it original.

I don't know how much repainting the cladding would lower the value, but I bet the overall look of the car would increase dramatically if it were all one color.

Just a thought...

Hey, thanks for the kind words. Indeed, the lower cadding takes a little bit in this kiond of colours. In others, like silver or black I think it completes the car alot better. As you mentioned this is a very low km car. Having in mind how much time I spent searching for one, I think I am right saying this is the lowest km's R129 in Portugal. I'm going to keep it as original as possible because it's such a time capsule. 23.000 km and garage kept all it's life, bought it from the second owner who bought it in 1996. I am very fortunate to find it. It was a 3 year search.

I am problably just getting some nice 18 AMG Monoblock's, since this wheels still have original tires and that's an original thing that I do not want to keep.

That is a very light & airy color for the SL ...

I’d keep it original.

I found your thread when I'm searching for some other car with the same colour too, and I would say it's a lovely car in such a paint. Keep it up as it is.

These are the other 500SL that has the same colour as yours:

Hi - what is the email address for Beate Frank at the "Archive & Sammlung"? I'd like to inquire about my paint color, Designo Slate Blue.
