My 06 SL600 is supposed to arrive on the 23rd of June. The dealer says the car may be held at the port until the release date for the SL's which is sometime in July.

Not that it matters, but don't you have an 05 sl600 why are you getting another one Great car regardless wish I could afford one some day!

All I can say to that is No F*&%ing way. I paid for mine, and i want it when it arrives. I ordered it in December! They will have to pay me rental to keep it from me, as far as I'm concerned.

Your out west ask your dealer what the release date is officially for the SL's

Hey Stephen, my local dealer (Ft. Walton) says he has an 06 SL500 at the port right now, but can't get it until MB officially releases it. On the release date, they will ship the car, the 06 brochures, and all pricing info. I'll try to find out if he knows the date tomorrow.

I was just at the dealer and they claim not to know anything about a hold up....hmmm. But they don't have the pricing info either.

I am going to try to find out on Saturday.

The new car sales manager told me today he was going to call their rep and see if they could get the car released. We shall see!!!

If there is a problem with release dates and I really don't think there will be...the person to speak to from Mercedes in our area is Matt Barin. Your dealer will know how to get in touch with him.

Just so you know, you NEVER get the truth about the cars from the VPC. Last year when I ordered mine and it arrived in June they wouldn't release the car to me. Told me they didn't have a telephone bracket that was needed for the car. A few months later you may recall the media released the information about the worldwide recall. They had a recall on my car but wouldn't tell me the truth and made up some bull about a telephone bracket on back order. I knew at the time this was not true because I went to the dealer and found out that there were over 2000 telephone brackets in the country. They don't lie very well either.

None the less, I don't think you are going to have a problem and your shinny new baby should be in your driveway very soon after the 26th.

As usual, good advice. Dealer says no problem they are aware of on this side of the country...may be that those on the East have to wait a couple days...not fair to them.

I think StephenK's boat might get there sooner but you still have to deal with the unloading issues.

Remember, the boat has 6 levels. They empty two levels a day. Depending if you are on the 1st or 6th level there could be a difference in as much as three days. The cars come off in reverse order of loading. First on, last off.

So, the race continues. We will see.

There is some slight possibility that they may hold up east coast cars until west coast cars arrive so they are released at the same time. That is what I believe the issue is rather than a "release date"

The only time release dates apply usually is when there is a big model change like with the SL in 2003.
