Valentine-One Install

Does anyone have instructions on how to hardwire a V1 radar detector in the SL?

Thanks,

Ben

I installed a jack in my mirror wired to the nightlight for power and put the matching end on a 6" end of the V1 power cord. Works great and is nicely tucked along side the mirror.

That's what I was planning to do, however I have not looked at it yet. Is the light panel difficult to remove? Which wire did you use?

Thanks,

I pulled down on the whole mirror assembley and it popped off. Then I pryed open the mirror at the seam carefully. At the bottom center is a same "grain of wheat" lamp that is always on. I strip out some extra wire from the V1 power cord and soldered it to the two leads of the lamp.

How did you pull down the whole mirror assembly?

It seems that the SL500 is hard to hardwire the V1 since there is no fuse box in the cabin.

thanks

I grabbed the mirror and firmly pulled it down. It fits into a ball type socket. It will dangle from the wiring still in the header. Good luck.

I bypassed the whole wiring thing by getting a battery powered Solo.

Take it to the dealer, they charged me like $50 to have it outsourced to someone who for sure knows what they are doing.
