I noticed that too. the photoshop done on the one you attached is at least decent, some of them on mbusa are horrible, especially the ones on the specs pages.

StephenK,

Let me first say that I haven't seen the new rims in person and they can look a lot different than in a picture.

That being said, if I just had to choose between these two, I think I like the new ones better. I am not sure if I still wouldn't have picked the new MB wheels that I put on my 2005 SL600. I loved those wheels because they had the rivets.

The new wheels are designed after the SL65 wheels which are basically the same design with the rivets. They however, only come in 19" and not 18" and I wanted 18" for ride comfort. That was then, now I might take the 19" SL65 wheels because the Vanquish S has 19" wheels and they are fine. Only problem is the 19" SL65 wheels are about $6-7 thousand but they are gorgeous and on your car would look incredible because they are the only wheels with the hyperblack finish.

If you make me choose today between the two, I vote for the 2006 wheels but I am pretty sure if it were me, I wouldn't be satisfied there.

LovinSL600,

I test-drove a 645ci with 19" run flats. I drove over all the bumps I could find and just was amazed how smooth the ride was. If Mercedes tunes the suspension to the 19" run flats, the ride should be very smooth.

I never have liked the turbines, but between the two I like them better than the split spokes. I agree with Lovin, get the multipiece 19" AMG'S they look sweet... or better yet get some HRE's

I thought the turbines were tight when I saw them on a SLK32 a few years back.

On a R230 though? I'll pass.

And get the HRE's, a lot better for the value, it's too hard to find the multipiece 19" AMG's at a good price. Trust me, I've looked everywhere

For the AMG's 19" or some HRE's?

HRE is a company. You'll have to be more specific.

Ricky, have you seen this wheel in person. They look like sex and at your age, you should understand that.

In the silver they are nice. In the hyperblack I have never seen a nicer wheel.

Which rims?

The AMG 19" rims? Yeah I used to have a set in the garage for a few weeks. I loved them absolutley, but then again, when you see a really clean set of HRE 845's with massive lip in the rear, that's just a threesome.

We're so bad.

Here are the AMG 19" Rims that I think you're talking about.

As for the HRE's, they are a dime a dozen all over mbworld.
Check out www.hrewheels.com (official website) to see what kinda rims they offer. Personally I'm addicted to the Competition series. If you want pictures of the 940's or the Competition Series tell me as they still aren't on the official website yet.

Another good offering is the Kleemann TS-6. There are a few recent threads about that as well, I personally like the twirling style of the spokes on the TS-6.

If you need anything else, just ask.

What do you think?

Ricky, do you think these are the same wheels as the SL65. They are $7,000 rims and I am surprised they are on a car like this.

I got to admit they do look the same. What do you think?

Actually, upon second thought, that is a CL65 so maybe it is possible. I am right about the car?

The ones I posted are the exact same rims on the SL65. The car I posted is a CL65. All the 65's have the 19" gunmetal AMG rims.

Personally, although they are really nice, I'd go for something else because AMG parts just look too OEM. For some people, that's a plus, for me, that's what I'm trying to get away from, especially by dropping a few thousand dollars on wheels and tires!

I'm still hooked and addicted to HRE's, especially with all the stories I hear on this forum and a bunch of others how their service is fantastic and the rims are pretty much the benchmark for quality and style.

I have heard the HRE's are incredible. It is just a difference in attitude. I for one am always going to get the OEM part if I think it is really nice.

Many feel exactly as you do.

That's why I rock and you don't J/K

I'm glad there are different people, otherwise we'd all be driving Ford 500's and what not

Now, you have to pick a manufacturer. Then a style of the car, then the car it self, then the engine size and all these various options.

Then you have the ability to .. well honestly have more than a trillion different things you can do to it, even if most people already think it's perfect. That's why I love this world.
