I love the way the SL500 handles

Today I was cruising about 70 on the interstate and saw this thing in the middle of the road. I look to the right and swerve to the shoulder and back in my lane in an eye blink. I was very fortunate that the shoulders here are paved.

I was really impressed how my SL500 handle. The car is very tight with no body lean. I drove around that thing with ease at 70 mphs. I love driving fast around cones in an autocross.

Now if I can teach my wife how to avoid obstacles in the middle of the road, I will be a happy camper. I hope she learns anything from the Defensive Driving Class this weekend sponsor by our local MBCA chapter. Of course we will also have an auto-cross with a laser timing system.

And the car, and whatever else he wants to post pictures of

A picture is worth a thousand words.

Here are my pictures. I will post the link to the web site as soon as the other pictures get posted. I had the second fastest time on the autocross. The AMG beat me by .01 seconds. We did the safety driving in the morning and the autocross in the afternoon. We had lots of room for our event on the old airport runway.

For those of you want to have fun with your car and do a lot of road trips or other fun events, just join your local MBCA club.

It will come, I hope. As soon as they get them posted on the MBCA web site and I will post link. The event only cost $10 bucks person person, and it includes lunch. I was in charge of putting back the cones when someone ran over one in my section.

Everyone was impressed on how well the SL stop and my car did not skid. At the end of the course you was suppose to drive real fast and slam on the breaks when you reach the first cones in the picture below and try to stop before you hit the cones in the rear. If you knock down the cones in the rear, you would get a 5 second penalty. My SL stops about a foot from the first cones. Everyone was amazed of my brakes. So on the second and third runs, I just slam on the breaks when I approach the middle cones in the stopping box.

My SL was so fast that they could not get a picture of it.
