I was one of the earlier ones (almost a year ago) to receive notice and finally had the work done last week (3100 miles). Upon examining the shop docs given me, they appeared to have performed several software upgrades. While no one, in prior posts, could tell any difference with the new brake software, I certainly have. I'm a two footed driver. yes, I brake with my left foot and the sensitivity of the SL's software was always "fun". Since the software upgrade, braking has become no more of an art as braking on my Lexus. Also gone is the erratic behavior of the brakes if I accelerated at the same time my left foot left the brake pedal. I'm quite pleased. The vehicle now behaves as a "normal" one should.

It applied to SL's and E's with the electric/hydralic braking system (about 700,000 cars). My car was manufactured in 2/04 and I received the recall in either Nov or Dec of '04. Your dealer can match up VIN's of those affected and tell you if your car is one of them.

You should have already received it Tigger. I got mine about 2 months ago and have already had the software upgrade...
You might want to call and check on it.

2003 SL500
Hmm. I have a 2003. I had the first recall work done about a year ago, but have not received any notice of a subsequent recall. I just had my second scheduled service (about one month ago), wonder if they included it in that, and if so if MBUSA would have skipped the notice.

I've had a total of 5 recalls done to mine - the most recent batch of 3 were to update the software (which accounts for the apparant feel) and to replace a grounding wire and drain tube. It seems that some of the problems reported with SBC have been down to a loose connector.

SL500 and A-CLASS
Well, I called and there is no recall on my brakes. My car arrived from Germany on April 6, 2004. I did get the first recall work done in November 2004.
