SL/R230: R230 Official Picture thread!!!
My new SL600...
Finally took some pics. Of course, not even with my own camera. It was just spur of the moment at a friend's house. When all is done, I'll definitely take some better pics with my SLR...
The tint is done and the spoiler is on. The wheels will come soon. Not sure about whether I might tweak the exhaust to have 4 tips or not. And Renntech (or some alternative) is a definite soon!
Anyway, the car is a little dirty from a 70 mile highway ride, but not horrible. Black is a b$%ch to keep clean...and holy crap this car is a brake dust creator! (or maybe I just need to use the brakes too much!
). The last pic was just for fun since the three cars were together. The one in back is a '31 Ford. We almost added the Prius to the pic, but left it out.

Very nice Metalica...
I know Black's a bit*h to keep clean but... when it's clean... (for 15 minutes or so) it's the sharpest of all the colors.
I like the trunk lip spoiler. Where did you get it and did you install it yourself?
Anxious to see better picts...

Nice pics and great looking SL!
The tint looks good and looks about a medium... I want to do that in a week or two but don't want it too dark. The spoiler looks like it came that way... I may have to consider that also.
Thanks for post...

Thanks for the comments! I actually just put the spoiler on myself (well, with a friend to help hold it). It's just attached by double sided tape! (even by the factory in general, from my understanding...). A little rubbing alcohol to clean the surface, some blue painter's tape to mark off where exactly you want it, and then pray! That double sided tape sticks like a son of a gun, so you want to get it right the first time. I've heard you can use a solution of half windex and water to make the surface "slippery" for a moment to slide the spoiler, but I say just mark it and get it right the first try. Do it in the morning, and then let it bake in the sun for a few hours before driving...
The spoiler came from:
http://www.formymercedes.com/mb_resu...egory=Spoilers
35% is the legal tint level in MA (for side and back, windshield can't be tinted). Really, however, there are usually only tint meters that handle the side windows, since they are typically a unit that slidea on both side of the window to measure. So, ultimately, my tint is 35% side (legal), and 20% rear (fingers crossed).

Hey Nevada Jack,
You and I are on the same progression. I followed you from an E Class to an S Class, and now to an SL. I have the 2005 SL500, black like yours but with those "fish gill" rims instead. Chromed rims.
Your car is gorgeous. I would love to have those rims instead.
Nice to see you here.
Regards,
Jazzphile

I saved this desktop image and am posting it in case someone wants a desktop image of the SL550. It is 1920 x 1280.

Back on topic...:-)
I had the SL tinted today. 20% on all the windows. No windshield film applied. I had a clear film put on the GL but I noted a haze effect.
Very difficult to show the effect of the tint due to the sun angle and brightness but here are the pics.
