SL/R230: Courtesy Motors Extended Warranty
2003 SL500 47500 miles
Max warranty program (even includes seals and gaskets) from DaimlerChrysler
Total 7 year 85,000 mile warranty with $50 deductible $2565
Sounds pretty good to me. However, before I go ahead and pay for it, I wanted to see if anyone has had a bad experiance with them or Daimler Chrysler Warranty (I have heard plenty of good stuff and I'm not concerned about the delay in the warranty showing up at mbusa)
He didnt know if the ABC SPORT was specically covered. Has anyone had a claim re: the suspension? Was everything covered?
Thanks in advance for any input.
I'd suggest reading the small print, for example, do they require an inspection before they accept the car under warranty?
What clause do they have that says "If it's not specifically EXCLUDED, it's covered" or vice versa?
As for ABC, yes, my 10,000 mile old SL600 is in the shop exactly for this right now.
Price of the warranty seems about $1000 high, given what I've paid for warranties on other cars...however, they were all $50K cars so it might actually be in the ballpark. Perhaps someone else can chime in.
FYI: This 10,000 mile old SL600 is in for it's third tranny fix. After two valve bodies and an electrical relay fix, they're now telling me it's new tranny time.
One more tranny issue and this thing is going back as a Lemon!
I also spoke to J again and turns out that the air suspension is included.
FYI other quotes I got were around $3500 - $4500 for apples to apples programs.

My 2003/500 is right at about 43k miles and i've been wondering what i'd be looking at down the road as far as selling it out of warranty.
The $2500 price sounds pretty good to me if it covers suspension and the roof, etc... Did you get a price on a warranty up to 100k miles by any chance? or do they not offer one?
How do these compare to the original factory warranty as far as coverage, etc?

FYI if you car goes over 48K miles then it doesnt qaulify for that particular deal/program.
J quoted me a 7 year 100K miles at $2905 for $100 deductible and $3485 for $0 deductible.
In hind site the 100K is better for 2 reasons:
1. its only another $350 for 15,000 miles.
2. The policy is refunable on a prorated basis, so if I dont use it, or if someone is hagglinf me when I sell it, I can get a refund.

i'll ask my service guy what he can do for me on the warranty. if he can't step up, i'll call your guy on the east coast. do you think he can set me up over here in CA?
this warranty is transferable, right? my main concern is to cover myself when i go to sell it at 55k miles with no factory warranty.

or for $400 more I can bump it up to 100k miles, but i'm more concerned with the years than the miles.
the 4/100k that i was looking at would cost me $4500 from Millinium. About twice as much for that extra year.
what do you guys think? i'm mainly concerned with resell options.
any thoughts?

he mentioned it earlier in this tread

I did exactly this in 2003 on my SLK and the price difference was significant in my case. That is, if I chose to wait until my factory warranty was about to expire, the price for the 4-yr/100K 3rd part warranty would have been very high in comparison. I ended up getting the MB ext warranty at a good, negoitated price, mainly because it covered the roof, and many other 3rd party warranties did not cover it or were very vague about it.
