I will soon be ordering a 2007 SL600 or SL55 and need some advice on the exterior and interior color. I currently have a silver/ash SL and previously owned a black/charcoal. I am thinking about pewter/black napa and wonder what you think of the color as I have not recently seen that combination. I love black but it is a lot of trouble here in Chicago to keep it looking great. If anyone has a picture of pewter on an SL600, please post. I would like to try a new color, otherwise its back to good old reliable silver! TwinCam

I've seen "Diamond Silver" driving around, but when I saw it up close at the dealership on a SLK, ugh, its very very "baby blue."

Not to hijack, but I would love to see a graphite gray (i think it's a designo colour)

Pewter would be a good color choice IMO.

I would check the this forum and the SL55/65 AMG forum. Both have picture threads and you will most likely find what you're looking for.

I agree. Designo Graphite is the best color for the SL.

Thanks for the recommendation on the designo graphite gray. I have not seen it, but will keep an eye out for it in the Chicago area inventories. It looks good on the MBUSA website though you never know until you see it in person. The other color I have not seen that might be interesting is agean blue. I agree the diamond silver is too blue. I am also waiting to see if there will be any new designo colors for the 2007's. I'll be at the Chicago auto show this weekend to see if anyone there has any info on the 2007 color schemes. TwinCam

You would think the MBUSA website would be updated for the 07 SL's already since they plan to deliver them in April and are already taking build slots. At least in the "Future Models" section.

I don't have any pics of Designo Graphite Grey at this location; but here are SL55's in Agean Blue and Pewter. :

There is a graphite gray floating around on this forum. I remember seeing it. It was gorgeous and a color I would also consider if I were to get a 2007.

I know outside the USA you can get it as a regular color, not sure in the USA. I think you have to get it as a designo color which means you have to get the matching interior which is not black.

For me, I'd order if you can, the graphite gray with black.

I appreciate the comments and pictures Clay J and Lovin SL600. The one unknown at this time is what the designo colors will be in 2007. The press release mentioned new designo colors and a designo II interior with brushed aluminum instead of would. I like the designo graphite gray and the agean blue as a back up. If you here any anything about the new designo colors or interior please post. I also checked again with the Chicago Mercedes dealers and they do not have the order forms with options for the 2007's yet. They are talking March/April time rame. Again, I appreciate the you help. I spent Saturday at the Chicago Auto Show and they only had 1 SL on display. As luck would have it, an SL600 sport in the designo graphite gray!The color was spectacular along with the option price of $6925 above and beyond the standard metalic colors and napa leather. Well I fell in love with the color and will order my 2007 SL600 with the designo option as soon as the dealers have their official option sheets. The graphite gray is actually a CANDY color. It features gold, silver and blue specks in the paint up close. Quite remarkable. I have this Designo SL600 and even in the OC, I've never seen another one.

Do you have to get it with the matching Designo color or can you get it in Black, not charcoal but that optional Black which is an additional charge?

I had thought as of 2006 if you got the Designo Gray you had to get the matching interior which I think is the Graphite leather color.

I know Graphite is very dark but it is not Black. I have seen the Graphite leather color because I remember on my 2005 SL600 when they ordered a new Black panel for me it came in wrong and the color was actually Graphite.

That's because all SLs in the OC are silver and black :-)

Thats true. I'm in OC, planning on ordering an 07 and hoping for new colors or else I'm getting Iridium Silver. I've seen Diamond Silver .. a little too blue and only looks good in certain lighting conditions.

There is always white, but I already have a white car, want something new.
