Shame wasn't a hardtop convert..
I have to say I do like the coupe version - looks quite imposing driving down the motorway. I am disappointed that they are using a rag top for that price of car - you'd think they would do some sort of hardtop/panoramic/carbon fibre - that's the biggest let down in my view.

I'm sorry the Bentley's to me is all about the "I got money" not that I have taste......none of them are particularly attractive cars to me.

I just saw the GTC at the New York International Auto Show. It looks better in person than in the pics. But I think that for the price it should be a hardtop convertible.

My dealer has the unveiling on Tues. and I am looking forward to it. You are the first of everyone I have heard call it ugly. Most that have seen it say it is stunning in person. The back window is glass by the way. My only beef is that it isn't a hardtop convert as well. Other than that it is touted as the worlds fastest 4 seater convert. It will have to be great to bump the SL65 out of the garage but we shall see!

price aside, it is a good looking, fast convertible, and it is also a bentley. being a bentley, it should offer much more than than. i think the car was designed for a girl or a metro! the back seat looks very small, kinda like the jag, yes, no?

I think they mean top speed. 198 top down. Its the color of this one that doesn't work for me. Black on black with some better wheels would do alot. Its just like certain colors on an SL that just don't work for me.

The Rolls convert will be THE car but like you said over double the price of this Bentley. The new Azure will be nice as well but around 400k as well. Too much for one car to be enjoyable for me.

I think it is tremendous
that VAG (Volkswagen Audi Group) have come up with so many wonderful ways of repackaging the Phaeton platform that cost them a fortune to develop, and they couldn't even give away.
It is creative marketing at it's best. You make a fine automobile that you can't sell at $85K, so rebadge it, rebody it, and reprice it at almost triple, and bingo, you've got a smashing runaway success. I salute the excellence of their endeavor, and am delighted that they've recouped the R&D budget on the Phaeton, though it isn't personally a car for me.

Yeah, I bought it a few years back with 6k miles and it was like new but already took a nice hit. As far as the size, it doesn't feel any bigger than an S class to me. It looks big because of the grille but it it nowhere near Phantom size. An Arnage "T" is what I would get now before I would get a Flying Spur.

Not implementing a speed delimiter makes a car faster at a price (the price of your life, that is). This may not matter in the US, but that car is so heavy that it will put significant stress on its tires. Couple that with its softer suspension, relatively mushy steering and bathtub aerodynamics (the convertible), you are in for a killer ride.
SL's are significantly more capable and I am not excited about AMG's 155mph or 186mph speed restrictions, but at least I can see their rationale. At any speed, you should be able to fully control your car.
My 2 cents...
