Programming steering wheel buttons for SAT presets...

I just got a new 06 SL500 (and I actually RTFM)

I can't figure out how to get the steering wheel buttons to change thru my Sirius radio preset stations (as opposed to jut going from Sirius channel 1, 2, 3, 4 etc which is what they do now.)

I remmebr being able to make this change on my 01 S600, but I can't figure it out now.

Thanks.

Mojo

Unfortunately, MB decided to take preset adjustability away from the steering wheel starting in 05. MOST ANNOYING!!!

This is the one item that I do find annoying about the car. What were they thinking? When I take my car in for the complimentary tire rotation this week I'm going to ask if they plan a software upgrade to correct this problem.

Any luck on the software upgrade? It was lame to take away this option. I drive around with my arm permanently stretched across my console to change my presets.

SoCalSam: If your dealer attempts to rorate the tires on your SL, I would suggest finding another dealer. The tire sizes on your car differ from front to bsck, making tire rotation not such a good idea.

Sat Presets

Once I go to a preset sat station I have to hit presets again to find another preset station. I'm unable to directly from one preset station to another.
I'm I doing something wrong, or is this a poorly designed software program?

I should have done a better job of repeating the MB of Beverly Hills service offer. "We will rotate the tires at 6500 miles or if tire sizes are not equal we will inspect them". As I knew my car had unequal sizes my car had the tires inspected.

Stocknv: Are you trying to do this from the steering wheel? If so, thats the option that not longer exists.

Red face sirius preset tuning

i am not familiar with the MB factory Sirius unit, but on Sirius's portable head units you hold down the band button to activate the preset tuning operation. Maybe if the MB unit has that feature you may want to try it.

don't hold your hopes up high - this feature has been discontinued in 2002 when MOST based systems were introduced in the W211 E-class...so, that is 4 years already.
