Can anyone post here some details about this option available for 2007 SL ?

I'm also interested in this. It seems like throwing away money to me. We're thinking of getting it "just to have it", but maybe the line should be drawn in hte sand on this? What are scenarios when we might say "aren't we glad we got this!"?

I didnt order one on my 2007 SL. I asked the same question and the only scenarios anyone could come up with were something about unloading groceries and having hands too full to close the door, or sitting in the car and forgetting to close the trunk before leaving. I did get just about everything else thought except distronic, so whats 500, right?

I would get it because like you guys said, whats 500 bucks when you are buying a new SL but my question is if you have this can you open and close your trunk with the remote? If so, I would think it would actually be pretty useable when your arms are full.

Yes, one more thing to break. I was in the dealership a few months ago with the new Mercedes S550. It had this feature. It was already broken. In the end, they broke the trunk latch too. So the trunk couldn't be closed at all.

Sad, pathetic. I made a joke that if I had put down a deposit, I'd take it back right then and there.

I've got it on my 05' E55 but not my 03' SL. If I could have gotten it I would have. Very convenient when your hands are full of groceries or if you are fond of wearing jewelry. One small scratch on the trunk lid while closing it due to carelessness would more than pay for it.

That's the way I feel about it. No worries about your wife creasing or scratching your trunk trying to close it. I have it on my wife's E500 Estate and it's great and even more necessary on a wagon!
