I have a Black/Charcoal 2005 SL 500 AMG Sport and am considering upgrading the wheels to 255/20 in front and 305/20 in the back. I have seen the Lowenharts LT5s and LSRs...would you guys recommend a black wheel with chrome lip...checkout some at www.dazzmotorsports.com under gallery and thank you for your input.

Yeah Lowenharts are pretty nice...but i think you might wanna get the LT5 more than the LSR's cuz there's so many ppl who has the LSR on the r230...i'm planning to get the Maya MRS in black diamond you should check those out looks pretty cool...black on the inside and then silver face...if you're getting lowenharts maybe you can get the LE1 their new design

Thank you Ginger!
I was also thinking LT5 Diamond Noir..which is Silver face with black on the inside...what do you think...Theres a pic of a white SL500 on their website with the Diamond Noir LT5. Also would you paint the calipers...say maybe black or yellow?

How about all the ride comfort you'll give up? You already have a car with moves like a mongoose, and nothing you can do to your SL will make it handle anywhere near your 360. I would personally want to keep a little more rubber between the wheel and the road on the SL for those times when I need a more sedate ride.

yeah LT5's pretty nice i think but just get something that has that black on the inside scheme i think that's really cool! HRE's and iforged's are good brands as well...but if you're just for looks then you don't need those brands especially when you have to pay so much for HRE's now unless you can find a good used set. Show us pics when you get your rims man!

Donz Wheelz
Ever consider the Donz Genovese........
20 x 8.5 and 20 x 10.5..........
No problems wth the car lowered,
yes its a little more stiff but its worth it

Very nice pic at the DUB show. Do you have other pics of your car?
The wheels look great. I have a black SL...so I was thinking black wheels might look good...with smoked tail lights.

20's give the car a nice aggressive look, but the ride is a little rougher than with 19's - the biggest problem though is there is very little tire sidewall with 20's which make the rims much more vulnerable to pot hole & other road damage.
If I had to to it all over again, I probably would go with 19's just so there would be more tire sidewall for more protection.
And you don't *need* to lower the vehicle, this is simply a matter of preference. If you do lower it, you are going to get a rougher ride and, depending on how low you go, you may get tire to fender scraping/damage.

Finally got the wheels done: Lowenharts LT5 Diamond Noir...20 x 9.5 fronts,
20 x 11 rears...ridin 255 and 295...This shot at Crystal Cove today...courtesy Drew of www.fast-autos.net
Will post more pics soon. The handling is much sharper...and the ride still so smooth!

Thank you!
The Lowenharts Diamond finish with black really complements the lines of the black SL...as well as the huge chrome lip...and you're right there's not much tire there...but the SL's suspension is so forgiving...its a treat to drive...feels like a brand new car!
Look for it at Hot Import Nights in Los Angeles on August 19th...it will be among the VIP Auto Fashion showcase cars.
