New SL This Saturday!
After several months of searching nationwide and studying the pros and cons of every conceivable aspect of the SL models, I've finally made the decision to buy a new 2006 SL500, and will pick it up this Saturday! By sheer dumb luck I found the right car at the right time and at a dealer located only an hour away.
Details: Pewter/Charcoal, Comfort Pkg, Bi-Xenon, Keyless Go, and to seal the deal they threw in a big box of redemption coupons good for lifetime free premium gas at any Standard Oil station.
My thanks to the wise members of this great forum who enabled me to make a well-informed decision.

Photos later this week; weather permitting.

Like most first time owners of a new SL, I'm grinning a lot these days -- it's an awesome car. The wife is getting a little annoyed at my constant offers to drive to the store to get important things like a single box of kleenex or a pack of gum, etc.
Next week I'm having the dealer install the wood & leather steering wheel/shift knob trim pkg...assuming the parts arrive on time.
Your new Storm Red 550 is a real beauty as well! I'm sure you're smiling too.
Thanks for asking.

If your car came with the paddle shifter, the dealer installed wood/leather wheel won't work so you may want to ask them first. Appearance wise you can't go wrong as I think it compliments the interior 10-fold.

My SL does not have the sport pkg, so no paddles on the steering wheel. My SLK320 came standard with the wood/leather wheel and shift knob -- so it has become a "must have" option for me.

The wood wheel and shift knob are nice options. I had my dealer upgrade mine. Only downside is the aftermarket price.
