SL55 cluster in a SL500

Anyone know if a SL55 cluster will work in a SL500?
I assume I have to take it to the dealer to get my mileage to match or will it just automatically update when I put the new one in?
Thanks!!
L

works like a charm? Where did you buy it? I am looking for one for a friend. Mileage will reflect the SL55 cluster miles.

I dont know if it works, thats what I am asking. Id like to buy the cluster, but dont want to waste the $$ if my car is going to freak out.

Ive noticed you did the SL55 conversion on the exterior....where did you get the rear lights and how much did it cost? Also whats the difference in the SL500 and SL55 gauge cluster?

i think the mileage on the car will not change when the cluster is changed. can someone verify this after the change and a few miles are put on the changed cluster.

The miles will be whatever they are when the cluster is taken from the original car and will not be "updated" to what your car was.

Whats the difference in the gauge cluster? Also if you do the swap wouldnt that cause problems later down the line with mileage? So technically is it even worth doing it?

The clusters are interchangeable but I don't think you could ever get an authorized MB dealer to do it. As I understand it the only differences are in the graphics of the cluster itself.

When you get a new cluster the miles are set by MB at the time the cluster is ordered and according to what they are told by the dealer. It will not change when you put it in the car nor at any other time.

If you get a used one from who knows where it will show the miles on the used cluster. The dealer does not have the ability to change the mileage reading on the cluster. It can only be done by MB at the time it is ordered from the distribution center. The mileage setting for a replacement cluster is not controlled in the field.

I am sure exchanging clusters without being done by an authorized MB dealer could possibly void the warranty and in fact may actually be illegal in certain states if the mileage is altered.

Hope this helps.
