Took the car into service for 2 rattles and a greasy window. Got the car back with:

1) 200 miles on the odometer! WTF!
2) Scratch
3) Dirty interior and exterior
4) Rattles not fixed. (I have this creaking noise from the rear deck, reproducable when I slowly go over inclines/declines....dealer says is the chassis flex. BS?)
5) Key battery now low? Says "Check key battery" when I fire her up via the keylessgo. Any thoughts on this one? Car is 1 yr old.

Needless to say, I was livid. Remained calm about it, though. Dealer will fix scratch and offered a free detail. I'm more concerned about the 200 miles put on it. What would you guys want as retribution? Dealer offered a full tank of gas, but that's a drop in the bucket in my mind..

You kidding? Free tank of gas.....? How about reimbursing you for driving your $100k vehicle around for a day. Most luxury rental places would have charged $1k for 1 day and 200 miles. I would demand that from them.

Free extended warranty is the least they can do...I would raise more hell then you could ever imagine. A dealer put 27 miles and I was really pissed...200!!!!!!!

regarding the low battery....it just recently showed up for me too and mine's a little more than 1.5 years old as well

Have your lawyer drop them a letter. I will gaurantee you will get further with them.

The only thing not to be concerned about is the keyless go battery. They can go at any time. I got 2 years out of mine, but I wouldn't have been surprised if it had gone earlier. Just go buy another battery, it is easy to replace.

The other stuff, well, I'd be pretty upset too.

When you dropped your car off at the dealer.
You should have got a receipt showing mileage at drop off.
Or "Mileage In". If you have 200 more miles at Mileage out.
I would get a lawyer. That is worth several thousand dollars
at least. God knows what your car has been subjected too.
Extended warranty sounds like a good trade to me too.
No way. Make that dealer pay out the nose.

The battery is easy. Normal condition for the keyless to
do that every so often depending on use.

Go to a Drug Store. Get a Duracell CR2025/2025. About $ 2.00 Ea.
You may need to look at the book to get the Key open. Kinda trick.

How long was the car in the shop? It sounds to me like someone took your car and had some fun in it. I remember one time in my S-class when I had a problem with the front end making noise, the service manager allowed the mechanic to take the care and drive it home for lunch, their reasoning being he would be in the car more and have a better chance of hearing the problem. I did not like that either. Work is work and home is personal.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Turns out I was absolutely wrong about the 200 mile usage.

In my haste to pick up the car and FREAKING out about the scratch, I totally misread the "mileage-in" on the service ticket....only 8 miles had been driven.

Embarrasingly enough, I had:

1) Already told the dealer and had some choice words. Realized my error and called the dealer back today; I'm man enough to apologize for my mistakes. Funny enough, they didn't bother verifying it when they tried to make ammends. I was the one who caught it.

2) Posted on the forum like a fool. Sorry to all for the unecessary drama.

Dealer will take care of the scratch, the key battery, and a full interior/exterior detail. Hopefully, they'll be able to re-diganose the creaking noise.

Sigh.

I have the chassis flex noise as well when hitting grades... both in an '04 and an '06 - FYI
