SL500 vs SL55

I am looking at trading my 2003 SL500 for a 2003 SL55. My SL500 is loaded with every option. i.e. Parktronic, Distronic, Pano Roof, Keyless go, Sport Package. The SL55 has none of these but it has the engine. The dealer will obviously want a premium for the trade. Any thoughts?

p.s. The SL55 will be CPO and has 38,000 vs 46,000 miles on my car.

none
I checked Manheim and SL's with your mileage are selling for $43,000 to $48000. So expect a # in that range...
Sl market is super soft, there where killer incentives on the 2005's and the 2006's.
Id try to sell it used and see if your dealer will let you do a pass thru to save the sales tax.

Dealer came back with a $20,000 price differential. A bit too steep for me.

SL500 Vs SL55

I shopped for almost a year on this one.
CL500 to SL55 upgrade.

My SA warned me about the 2003 SL55. Too many bugs.
First year available.
His advise was "get the latest model you can afford".
So went 2005. Then kept the CL too. Oh well.

Seriously. If you are going to go SL55. Get a low mile
2005, 2006.
Get the keyless for sure. Wish I had Parktronic on mine too.

There are some sweet deals out there.
Like Real Estate agents upside down on the lease !
Those guys are dropping like flys here in So Cali.

I agree with blt, try and reach for an 05....it will not be that much more, but its a better car all around. ...plus your warranty options are much stronger (less money longer term) .....and I would wait until december or january and u will see another 5% to 10% drop. Good luck

I appreciate the advice. I was trying to avoid a 6 figure price tag for an SL55. But it looks like going late model may be the best bet in the long run.

SL55 Price

Six figures not necessary.
I got my 2005 SL55 this June. $ 86K.
But had 20K miles on it.

Just take your time.
This market is real soft right now.
Especially with the holidays coming.

WOW. I have been getting real close to buying a 2005 SL CPO from a local dealer. Do you really feel the prices can drop that much in a few months? Thanks for the info.
