Bose factory sound system lousy
Hey guys. I am pretty disappointed with the sound of the Bose system in my 2005 SL. I checked some older posts and a lot of people seem to agree. The highs and the lows don't seem that good to me. Does anyone have any simple upgrade ideas? Thanks.

I've been a music lover & audio purist for longer than I can remember. The old saying, "Bose Blows" still goes. But in their defense, the SL interior is a big challenge for even decent sound. I doubt if there's much you can do for a simple solution. I recommend you contact Rick at Reus Audio in Orange, CA to see what he thinks. He's probably the best, or at least one of the very best, in the entire country at what he does. They travel if you're out of their area.

Thanks, I'm in New York so that is too far. I guess Bose Blows fits. I am wondering if putting better tweeters or something like that might help.

I believe Reus will come to you. I would imagine NY would be a popular destination. I've heard their product at an auto show, and if I were in NY, I'd ship my car there and back just to have it done. Whats another $10k on a $125k car?

Ruess installed a system in my 07 SL and it rocks! And YES they do travel around the country doing installations. Give them a call to see when they will be in your area.

I am not really looking for a full blown system just some slight improvement to the highs or lows. As I read older posts it looks pretty dismal but maybe a speaker upgrade might help? Thanks.

After working with a new cd of MP3s that I burned and adjuting the treble and bass I am more pleased with the sound. I would like to detract my "lousy" comment on the Bose system-

Improving BOSE sound system?
Greetings. I am not happy with the sound of the BOSE system in my 2005 SL. Anyone got any simple ideas for getting better highs and lows out of it? Wish there was a way to have an EQ hooked in and hidden away. Sounds too flat to me even after playing with the treble and bass controls. Thanks for any tricks.

At the risk of sounding fickle, I have to go back again and say it stinks. I just put a known CD in the rear CD changer and played it for a comparison to the MP3s I have been playing. The CD is well recorded with powerful low end and clear highs and when I play it on the BOSE it is totally lacking any of that. It is really poor. I will keep looking around for ideas.

A poem for you all:
No Highs?
No Lows?
No surprise,
It's Bose!
Hardy-har-har...
I have had several Bose systems in various cars.. and they all suck. The H-K system in the E is excellent. It won't play loud enough to make you deaf, but the clarity is wonderful. The only stock car audio system I have ever heard that is better is the Mark Levinson in the Lexus... but the car sucks, so no M-L for me...

I asked the same question with regards to the factory BOSE system in my 04 CLK 500 and got the full gamut of answers from rip the whole thing out to leave it completely alone... Seems BOSE uses speakers that are anywhere from 2 Ohm down to .5 Ohm and because of that they can't be simply replaced with better quality speakers... I found a device made by Audiolink but have not found anyone that has used one... They claim there products can be used especially in BOSE Systems an allow you to run a seperate amp and sub or additional speakers... http://www.linkmeup.com/products.htm
I've also seen a response from a guy who was a stereo installer who used a Rockford Fosgate 3sixty.2 sound processor to add speakers and a sub to a BOSE System but I don't know the details...
