Is it possible to replace a 2003 CD based Comand unit with a DVD based unit from a 2005 SL? I read somewhere about the wiring being different (HOST?) but I was wondering if anyone had adapted it.

I have done a similar upgrade on my C class. There is no telling what the cost will be until you start the upgrade. A couple grand atleast.

i would be interested in this also, but replace command means replacing wiring and trim surround also? keep talking about this.

As a minimum, you will require a comand, wood panel, amp, wiring harness, fiber optic harness. Then you can add a changer, voice control, phone system, etc... at a later date. Your current cluster may not display the audio info as well. I have not looked into the parts catalog as no one that I know has been serious enough to do the upgrade... or I have told them to get a newer SL instead.
