Can anyone confirm the 07 Taillights on a 03 SL conversion?

I was told by the dealer it was compatible to convert the all red to the new 07 Taillights with the lightly smoked center compared to the older darker smoked center. I also heard from other people that they tried it and it is not compatible??

Are they or not?????

I don't see why not, all of them are LED based and there were no physical changes to the rear tailights in 07...

I don't know for sure though

Thats what I thought....I confirmed it with a few MB Tech's and they said it does. But there are a few other people who said it didnt...so I just wanted to make sure before I pick up a set. Thanks for confirming and it looks tight by the way!

You should get some decent dough if you put them on ebay...or put them back on and sell the 550 lights? I do like how it looks but an AMG without the dark lights disturbs me somehow...LOL

I really like the lighter lights but I agree that with the AMG the darker lights seem to be the right answer. They also look great. It seems to me you may be going backwards even though the lighter lights look good.

I would keep the AMG lights with the AMG car.

I recently replaced my older amg lights with the amg 07 lights with the dark gray and they work perfectly.

Its pretty challenging from my understanding. Havent done it myself but from looking at it there are a few panels that have to come off and than you will be able to access the 3 bolts holding it on.

I dont know how to post pictures so I just used ebay to give you all a general idea. Anyways here it is.

http://ebay.carad.com/viewItem/dsp_p.../a/07/32/37/bc

Thats is the 07 AMG Lights with a lighter smoke center and a lightly smoked third brake line.

vs.

http://photos.ebizautos.com/6627/1728478_5.jpg

Its a little darker smoked center.

Oh and the 07 Rear Taillights are LED on the bottom vs. regular bulbs past models.

Can 05's be upgraded to LED's? Stupid question after seeing's Anthony's 03 SL55 with 07 tails, just want to confirm.

Also, If I were to get 03 SL55's tailights which have bulbs, can I use my existing LED's with them?

I wish someone would put up a DIY of how to change the tailights!

The older years can be upgraded to the newer style LED's. I confirmed at the dealer and the plugs are straight plug-n-play so yes its upgradable.

You can get the older AMG taillights which utilize the bulbs with no problems to work with your car. You will not have the LED as it is built into the taillight housing so you will lose your LED's. All plugs are the same and like I stated before plugs right in. Hope I didnt confuse you.

As for write up Ill consider working on one since I am getting a set of AMG taillights delievered soon hopefully and will do a step by step as well as pictures.

Im also ordering a 07 Sport AMG Steering Wheel w/paddles that I am going to try to get to function with the older non paddle cars and if I succeed Ill get together with a shop to help me with the wiring harness to make it plug-n-play and a DIY with pictures.

LEDs are built into the actual housing. I have an 03 AMG and upgraded to the 07 AMG lights without problems. Plug'n'Play with the standard bulbs.
