ECU TCU upgrade pricing?

Allright,

Here is my first thread.
I just got myself a 2004 sl600 (boys need toys ) and I am reading (learning) about the mods possibilities. Renntech seems to be one of the options.

However, while the cars comings of the leases and become significantly more reasonable, the price ($ 6500) is in no relationsship to the cars' used values, and does not seem to increase resale value.

That is why most tuners (at least in Europe) give significant discounts for used vehicles.
I do understand development costs, and the complexity of re-mapping the tt12s (it is not a VW jetta) and the goal/need to make a profit (afterall this is the good old USA). However, the ECU/TCU upgrade is in no relationship compared to other complex cars (just had my V10 Diesel Touareg chipped for about $ 1.000.- by one of the reputable companies for VW).
Does anyone has other more reasonable options, or heard about discounts from the tuners (Kleemann, Renntech, Brabus etc.) to capture the used car market.

Im in the same boat and looking for a few different tuners who specialize in ECU Flashing. They do BMW, VW, Mercedes, etc....All the Euro Cars so I know they know what they are doing. What are you looking for and do you have additional mods? They can chip your car for what you have done to your car for maximum power output.

I am not looking for anything else but the ECU upgrade at this time. Much more does not make sense since you reach what the wheels can get down on the road. Also, one thing usually leads to another, and suddenly you spend more on the cars than for the car itself.....

Don't they all look alike? .......(Now I feel like throwing a big stone into an enthusiast forum!).

Honestly, I was shopping around for a while, and 66% seem to be silver, 33% black, and the remainders are somekind of designo color combo. 80% have the sport package, 85% seem to be charcoal leather inside. keyless go is common. So they all seem to look alike, namely awesome!

So here it is, a silver one with charcoal leather and the sport package!
