Does anyone know how many SL-500's each dealer gets in one year?
i was told 5 per year, but maybe its just my dealer.

I think it really depends on the size of the dealer and their sales. All this relates to the allocation that MBUSA gives them. Maybe RAB can elabroate on this.
Agree with Awiner on this one. Depends on the size of the dealer. I saw one of these in person at a local car shop with 20" Monoblock IV's and they looked pretty damn sweet!!

Wow, 5 SL's per YEAR. We'd starve here if we received only 5 per MONTH.
From looking at Netstar I see we have 6 incoming for the opening date in late March which is 2 more than the next guy. That does not include the ''03 Launch Edition' SL's, either. I would anticipate about 8 to 10 SL500's per MONTH, initially. Newport Beach is often labeled the "SL Capital of the World" and we carry about 75 in inventory at all times. Right now we have about 90. ...RAB

any "guess-timates" on the SL55 AMG allocations? I am first on the list at my dealer, but do not know if the dealership will recieve one.

The dealer can get on that computer and find out who has one and trade it for other vehicles. The dealer doesnt sound very resourceful, so perhaps you may want to search for another. The dealer I am working with, has gotten my car and all of my friends cars in no more than two months. I ordered a C32 and my friends ordered a S55 and C230 coupe (fully loaded). I ordered first, but they both got there cars before me. I dont know why they are telling you they may not get one. From what I have read, any Mercedes dealership (of the over 300 in the network), can get any Mercedes vehicle. Beat them down and get them to order your car!!

they are not telling me that they will not receive one, I was asking about the allocations as the Mercedes is only expected to ship 200 SL55 AMG's for the ENTIRE USA PER YEAR. That means that not every dealer will receive one from the start.
I would rather not wait for months to receive one. I live in south florida, and these types of vehicles go quite fast.
Thank you for your response, nonetheless.

If they are all out of them, thats another story. But if Mercedes has not sold there allotment for the year, then they can get one. Be careful that this is not just a marketing strategy by the dealer to up the price. I know sales techniques well and that is classic. Im not saying that they are doing that, but beware. Do you want an S55? Or an SL55? If they are not sold out, you can get one. You may have to wait since AMG can only build a certain number of cars in a certain time and there are people ahead of you. But thats the sacrifice for exclusivity. Good luck to you.

If it were that easy I could double, no, triple my income. We have one of the highest concentrations of M-B Centers in the country and thus the best selection. If I wanted to dealer trade for a niche M-B, such as a CL55 or SL55, then I have to have one of like value to give in return. That's not likely to happen. S55's are realitively easy to find, as are C32's. It's the very rare that remain so which is why 'market value' of pre-owned (used) ones often command a price above MSRP. ...RAB
