Fair Price for 04/05 SL600?
I've been talking to dealers about buying their SL600's....what is a good price to get a 2004 or 2005 with 20-25k miles?

I'm wondering if you might be better off and save more money if you got one with more normal mileage, say an average of 8-9K per year. Previous owner had a chance to shake out any problems and the car did not sit all the time (which is not really that good either for a car) Also a consideration is where the car came from?? I've read that a lot of Calif cars might show low mileage but the mileage was sitting in traffic creaping along at 2 miles an hour, that is not good either. Just some thoughts, sorry my mind wonders sometimes

Thanks for the input..there is an 04 SL600 with 22500 miles...really tempting deal...but its from a non mercedes dealer so the car is not CPO...warranty expires in 5 months!

I would get a CPO. I did and extended it to 3 years and 100K miles. If these things break it can get real expensive real quick. I like the CPO you take it to the dealer and the car is cover pretty much bumper to bumper. Plus my dealer will give me a loaner while the work is being done.

I've had good luck with dealers so far with replacing parts, though. The Rover dealer took it down the block to the car's original dealer for a simple balance and alignment on their dime as part of the sale and the dealer replaced all the cam bolts in the suspension, as well as replacing the body computer. I took the car in for a free/covered service last week and I ended up with some new roof panel parts and the driver's side outboard HVAC vent being replaced.
I figure that I'll take it back another time or two for misc stuff before the warranty is up next year and see mow many other things they find before I buy a warranty.

Has anyone found one that includes the roof?

Yes, just sticking with the remaining factory warranty until a good option presents itself. I'm either going to buy a warranty or proceed with some mods to the car.
I thought about pursuing an extended warranty through a dealer, but it seems the value isn't really there. I didn't look into it in great detail, but it seems that they'll only sell you 1 yr/12k at a time? Although the car has not given my any grief at all, I kind of screwed myself by not buying a CPO vehicle. My car was a complete impulse buy. I left work to visit the Rover dealer for service at lunch and came back in it.

hehe....I try not to be an impulse buyer...(i usually am)...
the CPO im looking at are both 2005's and are 10K+ more expensive...thats why I wanna stick with 04...
plus...2005's are going to lose more value than 2004's...although warranty is a big plus..

09' Ferrari Scuderia 16M Spider, 11' Mercedes SL63 AMG, 09' Mercedes S550
As a pricing point of reference, in May I purchased an 05' SL600 for $79,000. It included the following:
1) 11,000 miles - like new, perfect condition
2) Full service history
3) Mercedes 7 year (until 10/12), 100,000 mile extended warranty
4) Black interior/exterior
5) AMG sport package
6) Keyless Go
7) Custom luggage (behind the seats)
I've since added 19" AMG SL65 wheels. An ecu upgrade is next on the list!

I agree that the price on cars decrease, but if the facelift isn't good it will help the demand for the original and the price will not go down as fast as normally. Sorry I did not make that clear. Now popular are SL's in Italy?
