SL/R230: Sirius Satellite in a 2003 SL?
I know some of you have answers to this, and I am very open to your suggestions. I want it installed as invisibly as possible...so that it looks built in. Is there such a solution?
Thanks,
Stan

Essentially the put the sirius unit into the glove box and hooked the output form the unit to the jack in the glovebox that feeds into the AUX -- so it is hardwired ... instead of FM transmitted. The antenna for the unit I had them put into black grill on the hood near the windshield (right under the grill).
Works well for me with excellent sound quality ... but uses up your aux jack.
For the iPod (now iPhone) ... I used a few months earlier (did that myself -- which was probably a tougher project) ... the Denison IceLink kit ... essentially hooking into the Fiberbus where the original CD player behind the drivers seat was and hook my iPod / iPhone into that ... so it feeds music out the DOCK connector as a line feed.
Good luck.

Thank you. WorldWide Stereo is very close to where I live. I know them well. I'll take a ride down there and talk with them. Hopefully they remember the installation procedure they used for you. The Sirius Radio is in the Glove Box? Probably OK when you listen to 1 or2 specific stations. Great. Thanks again for the tip.

For $599.00, they suggest they can install a Sirius radio right in the ashtray. It would be totally concealed, and it would sacrifice the insert ashtray, lighter, etc. However, the wooden flip up cover would be totally intact. That's OK with me...many cars today don't even come with ashtrays and lighters. They also claim that they can install the antenna inside the car (hidden) and it would be unencumbered finding a signal.
This all sounds interesting to me, and I think I'll pull the trigger on it. Of course, I have the usual concerns: I don't want anything just taken apart unnecessarily and improperly. AND I certainly don't want to disturb the future value of the car.
My 2003 (just purchased it before Christmas this year) just turned 8000 miles. Just because they say they can do it, doesn't mean they can do it to my satisfaction. So, I'm a little hesitant on it. Do you think it can be done?

I am also curious to see how it turns out. I really miss satellite in this car.
