SL/R230: 2006 SL500 price
#26
I had my lease termination conversation today with MB Financial, for 2006 SL500. It was a 27 month, 10,000 miles per year deal.
Overall, an unpleasant experience, starting off poorly after waiting 10 minutes for a rep to answer.
Lease is due late June. Buyout is $68,000. I asked if there are any further discounts on this, and was told no, not on this model. I told him that I can buy CPO at the dealer for less, with fewer miles, but he didn't budge.
Interest rate on purchase is 6.5%, $2,200 per month for 36 month note. Continuation of the lease for six months is $1,890 per month!
I have 19,000 miles on the car but will be certain to use every available mile prior to return.

They may well change their tune the closer you get to the end date...Did you make them a reasonable offer?

Thank you for the response.
I figure I'll give it a few more weeks before my next conversation. I like the car enough to keep awhile longer but ball's in their court. I think that they're headed for a big loss on the car.

Auction prices
Hello everyone, looking at this SL. Dealer wants $63k, working him lower, slow going, what "price is a steal" with 2009's due out very soon.
MB gave away so many SL's the last few years with cash in trunk deals. Kelly BB is worthless to me. I feel it does not reflect actual market conditions.
2006 SL500, 22k miles, Silver/Ash. Options:
317 Comfort Pkg
318 Trim Pkg
521 AMG sport Pkg
889 Keyless go
219 Distronic
220 Parktronic
614 Bi-xenon lights
Heated & Ventilated Multi-Contour seats
Thanks![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I agree with the above poster, waiting for the 09s to arrive would be best.

A friend of mine just returned from an auction here in Florida. I asked him to look at low mileage 2005 and 2006 SLs, most sold in the $30k range. There are quite a few 06s on Ebay on with asking prices in the $50k range that aren't moving, which is pretty telling of current market conditions.

Not to burst your bubble but, out of 64 vehicles (05's) that sold at auctions last week, there were nine SL's that were in below average condition w/ higher miles that sold in the high $30k range. The "average" selling price was $51k. Only 12, 06's sold with an average price of $56k. One sold for $31k which was below average condition and 85k miles on it.
Then you need to got to Miami

That included Miami. I can see exactly what sold in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, etc...I have the entire general nationwide auction list as well as specific auction locations. Sorry you were given incorrect info OR the person neglected to tell you the condition of the car.

It's possible if the auction wasn't through Manheim which is the largest wholesale auction-house in the US....The point being is that it's highly unlikely that a private party buyer will find a pristine 05' or 06' SL for $30k

SO if someone is looking to pick up a clean 05 sl500 at the base of its depreciation, when will this happen?
Any thoughts on where the pricing will bottom out?
Will a clean 05 hit the 35k mark?

E 63S Wagon Renntech, E55 Renntech, SL65, SL 55 030, ML, bunch of old ones--they come, they go...
We've had this discussion on other forums....
but most of the people on this forum would be shocked at what most of the cars in the lane at Mannheim look like. They expect them to be as they appear on the front line of most quality (??) MB dealerships.
Thousands to spend? Could be, sometimes. A set of 18" Michelins and rotors and pads for 4 corners of an SL could be close to 2k, even at the internal price. Then there is the cost to get it home from the auction, the auction fees, the ding removal, the curbed wheel repair, the new mats, getting another replacement key (there's usually only one). By the time this gets done, yeah, there are some dollars spent. I'm not saying that you cannot occasionally grab a puff car out of the lane at W. Palm or Mannheim PA. You can, and I have. It's just that that is the exception, and not the rule. And if that special car rolls through, the number is going to be way up there. The "descriptions" that you get on the presale are a laugh. Bottom line is that quality pieces cost more money and take more time. I figure most people on this board are looking for something a bit more special.

Great post I think most lose touch and just focus on an avg. price.
