Right now the car is still very new. I think if you wait a few
months, maybe even 6, you will see full front clips available
at local junk yards to do the conversion. If you can find a
front clip of a SL63, from the windscreen forward, you will
be able to do it very easily.

If you're gonna do it you better get the safety car bumper Alex

It's gonna be pricey to, the headlights are what, 2 grand each? You'll need that, fog lights, the grill, hood, front bumper, mesh pieces and front fenders. I could be way off but I'm guessing at least 6grand and likely quite a bit more.

I guess you could, but why? The new body style looks awful & cheap compared to what's on your car already.

Why, may I ask? Seems like vanity at its worst.

If I know Alex as well as I think I do
(I have followed a few of his projects thru
various forums over the years) something
tells me we will see an SL 63 front end on
another model car. Maybe on a CL?

I think the new 63 front on a W215 CL. That would be neat.

i'm not sure about an SL, but i think MB tries to make sure you dont "turn your old body" into a new one. w209 CLKs (03-05) have different tail lights then 06+, and from what others gathered they couldnt swap it. I think it may be true for the w211 E class (07+) too? Pretty sure the change a lil hardware and screw the whole thing over. I think it would be GREAT if you could though

Customize the rear as well! I guess you would want
to start off with some sort of damaged base car, and
build off that.

The only carryover exterior pieces between generations six and seven are the exterior door panels and the rear quarter panels. The engine hood is also 2 and half inches longer than the previous gen which might create some issues. AMG sport aero is also standard on all the gen sevens so you'd probably want the '04 to be the same, albeit previous gen look.

All in all, not a viable project imo.
