LOL !!!!

I bought mine the year it came out fully loaded for $124k (dealer mark-up)
What sucks is that it is in flawless condition and such low miles, but the dealer will only pay me 48k for it now.
I guess I'll keep it and get another car

Oh stop it, you overly serious, politically correct, high and mighty internet tough guy. It was a joke. BAUGHT is not a word. Get over yourself. It was a joke.

I bought mine back in 2002 when they first hit. It was like the forth one in MA and I paid 119k with the dealer markup etc. I found out later about the SL55 and wish I waited because the amount I paid I could got the AMG.....

A 79 450SL in excellent condition would probably not cost half the original price now. Does that mean my 2007 SL550 50th Edition will cost 54,000 in almost 30 years?

I have seen a '79 asking $17K I think. Your 2007 in 30 years may be worth $54K but a new one will probably be the price of a new SLR today...:-)

I bought my 2008 SL550 new its MSRP was around $103K I added a clear bra and tinted windows, plus 4 year paint treatment (they detail my car every year for 4 years). I paid $83K, about $20K off sticker. MB at the time was kicking back $12K and I nego. the rest. Hope this info helps you out.

PS- I looked at buying an Aston Martin Vantage the other day and my 2008 SL550 with only 5K miles and white color which is hard to find is only worth $70K on a trade. So if you are buying used just be aware that dealers are paying over $5K under Kelly blue book trade-in value. Now go out and steal one.

Bought mine new in 2004 for GP£80,000 so around US$160,000.

Living in the US does have some benefits when I see some your prices.

That 'terrible' resale benefitted you when you bought a $100k+ car for $46k.

Yeah, the depreciation on these things is sick. Bought my '06 SL600 last month. Car had 19k miles and is CPO through 3/2011. MSRP was $142k, I paid $68k. And I know for sure the dealer made the prev owner take a bath on the trade, so I can't imagine the "real" depreciation the owner actually saw.

I did a European Delivery with 07 SL550. There was no negoiation beyond the standard 7% discount, free hotel room, some other minor perks, and free shipping to the dealer.
