My Bridgestones suck..........

Put up with the noise for too long...........Never liked the Bridgestones and approaching 14K now and it's like driving a tractor(well not really) Need some advice on what to get? I don't really push her(too) hard so would like a smooth quiet ride(no runflats for me also). Appreciate suggestions particularly from people who have changed tires and what you have noticed in performance .

Because I have such a good relationship with my Service Manager at Mercedes, I would prefer they change the tires, as would have the new ones sent to them, so appreciate a guide line of price..they don't tend to take advantage, but always useful to know a ballpark figure. Don't mind paying a fair price for a good tire(including the dealers price for changing them) that has the above mentioned and will last another 15-20K....

Thx as always............

As far as tires go, Bridgestones are very noisy. I never liked them either, had them on my M3 and they sucked. The best tire for the money is the Michelin Pilot Sport, either all season or summer. They handle well, are extremely quiet and hold up very well. Seeing as you live in Florida, summer tires is the way to go. They also have a great tread pattern. Check out Tire Rack or Costco for prices. Typically, your dealer is overpriced on tires because they buy from a wholesaler and then have to mark them up from their. Tire Rack has a list of installers in and around your zip code. Costco can install them at their locations. Good luck!

Looked at tirerack and confused at the different prices offered for the same tires.............Have the AMG 19 wheel package. Would it make any difference(apart from price) with going with the 18's or would the fit not be correct?
Thx.

The fit would be fine going from 19's to 18's, however, your suspension was set up for 19's. As for the PS2's, you are correct that is the tire to go with. I would just call Tire Rack and get a price quote over the phone with the correct model numbers. Good Luck!

Michellin Pilot PS2's the way to go. They use softer rubber for better grip, less road noise. I have 20" wheels, very nice! Only drawback on the Michellin's the nasty mileage... they only lasted a bit less than 10,000 on the back and 12,000 on the front. My car has 30000 miles and I am on the 3rd set of tires... two were changed for the 4th time due to flats... expensive, but worth it for the SL

This is what I get from tirerack and what mercedes has recced.......Plus $68.00 shipping............Note though what they say about ride harshness??
Mercedes gave me sku numbers.....19229 fronts 32413 rears. where can I chk that this is the correct product with these sku numbers on tire racks website......................?

By the way, anyone else had this problem..twice I have been looking at previous posts and my puter froze up?? Is there a bug somewhere?

The following tire you have selected has a higher load rating than the vehicle's Original Equipment (O.E.) tires. This typically results in increased ride harshness, which some customers may find undesirable.

To select a different tire, REMOVE the tire from your cart and search for a tire with a load rating that matches your vehicle's O.E. rating. To purchase the tire you have already selected, KEEP IN CART / CONTINUE.

I picked up a nail on my right rear Pirelli. Tried to have it repair, but I must have run it soft which created a tread separation. I purchased a pair of Michelin Pilot Sport AS plus from Discount Direct Tire, 575.50 delivered. They arrived in about 2-3 days. I had my local tire company mount and balance them today. So far, they are quiet. They have a 500 wear rating as opposed to most others of 100 to 300. Living in New England, I wanted an all weather tire for rain as well as for the ocassional snow that falls unexpectively in the early winter and late spring. The car hibernates inside during the snow season. I have one good (the driver's side)) P Zero Pirelli 285/35zr18 for sale with approx 7/32s of tread left.

update on tire situation, what would you do?

Getting rid of my noisy bridgestones and having tire rack send Michelins PS2's$1569.00 255/35/r19 285/30/r19(not exactlly cheap are they?) Mileage 14320 and although I am definately hearing far more road noise, in fact it's loud, can't say the tires are bad, still got plenty of thread left(although to be fair, haven't exactly checked thoroughly)..So I asked the dealer what he does with the old tires and he said throw them away? What if I wanted one front and one rear to keep(and even have the nerve to ask the dealer to store them for me) just in case I had any type of blowout or whatever and needed them....
Just a thought?

Steven

What would you want for that Pirelli rear tire - I would like to keep a spare as one of my rear has bad curb rash on the sidewall.
