Pricing SL550 07 - Anyone Recently Buy -?

Started out the search for a 2009 SL550 - after doing some research and seeing that there are LOTS of 07's I have decided to try to work a deal on an 07 one owner and or lease return <20K miles car.

Anyone purchase a 2007 recently who is willing/interested in providing details.

In my search this is what I have found to date -

Appears to be LOTS and LOTS of 07 SL550's on EBAY with an average asking price of $59K. These tend to be (Lease Return) 97K to 106K Sticker vehicles with less than 20K miles - some less than 10K. It appears dealers are using EBAY not so much to sell the cars they list but to gather interest.

Dealer search has turned up lots of Certified 07 SL 550's with similar spec's (less than 20K miles, 97K to 106K Original Sticker) listed in the high 50's (58 -59K). I'm guessing that in this economy and with a good supply of used one owner and lease return 07's coming into the market the sales price is Mid 50's or perhaps a bit lower based on dealer and your negotiating.

Would be interested in hearing from others who have recently been in the market for an 07 or who are currently in the market - Please share your findings.

Wife bought 2007 SL550 back in June for 52000.00. CPO and fully loaded. Dynamic seats/ventilated, parktronic, distronic, every option I believe except pano roof and those Bridgestone run flats.

Asking price was 62000 or 63000 with 22000 miles. Also has warranty until June 2013.

That is pretty much where I want to be - Have several local that are in the 59's (Not as loaded as yours!!) - similar miles but no warranty. Did the 52 include the warranty or did you negotiate and pay that on top?

Just recently purchased a CPO '07 SL550 with 10K miles and all options except the pano roof for $57K (included a new bluetooth adapter, new mats, and a clear bra). Based on kkwm's post of $52K for 22k miles, I probably overpaid by at least $3-4K. So much easier to buy new....then you at least know what the invoice is. But hard to knock the value of a 2 year old car with only 10K miles at roughly half the original sticker.

10K miles - Nice.

What was the list price for the vehicle before you negotiated to 57K? Was 57k OUT THE DOOR?

Exactly, We would have loved to buy new, Wife really liked the 2009 Sl550 and we always buy new but at 110000+ new and 50% depreciation after 2 yrs, Why? On second thought at that rate, probably should have waited 2 more yrs and it would have been free

Price was $58990 originally, and then we "negotiated" to $57K. Taxes and doc fees on top of that. I will say that this car was in better than to be expected shape. Other than some light scratches on the door floor sills, it was as if new. But, it had clearly been driven lightly with only 10K miles. Tough call if I'd rather have the 22K mile car for $5K dollars less....guess it would depend on the car's condition. This car had the color I wanted and the seat color that I wanted and the clear bra was in perfect shape. I couldn't find a single paint chip and I looked hard. But, $5K for another 12K miles difference from mine.....hmmmm...enticing. I think he made a very, very good deal.

Great info Folks - thanks for sharing.

I agree its all about finding the right color both inside and outside for the used car. In my case I want the perfect 07 - color, condition etc... but due to end of year fast approaching and many of the 07's that I'm looking at have very early in service dates like 06 Early the car is nearing 4 years old. This will be our first 'used' car purchase and at this point I'm willing to wait for the perfect 07. MBUSA has end of lease auctions on a weekly basis so I think that there will be plenty of 07's coming off of lease as well as 08's starting to trickel in.

5K for 10K Miles - probably not from what I have seen. I have seen 07's that have 22K sell for within 500 dollars of 07's that have 6 to 10K - both cars with P1 AND sport - no pano.

Oh - and don't drive a late model SL55 or you will want one! -- Word's of warning. I drove a 2008 13K mile car and from that point (1 week ago) my need to have an 07SL550 has taken somewhat of a back-seat to thinking about my Viper and Corvette Days...

Finally on 09 Styling - My wife really likes the 09 face lift - she feels that the 08/07/06 look old when compared side by side. I too like what they did with the 09 but am not willing to pay the premium for just front and rear (+hood vents) update ++ now that we know there will not be a 2010 model and that in spring of 2010 Mercedes is slated to release a 2011 SL who knows that they are going to change.

Door Floor Sills -I have yet to find a MINT set of these. Even on a 2007 that had 3,400 miles the sills still had scratches. I'm not sure why they added these in 2007 - all they do is get scratched and make an otherwise mint vehicle look not as "MINT".

Time is almost always your friend as a buyer. The car I purchased DID have an '06 in service date, somewhat blunting the original warranty. The CPO warranty helped. I also purchased an extended warranty. I had been looking for over 3 months. Was willing to drive to Texas for one (a 2007) that had only 2K miles, but I didn't like the CarFax on it (previous door accident).

I know what you mean about the newer models!! But, at 2x the price...nah. For me, I had a hard time choosing between a pre-owned sl55 amg and this car. In the end, felt this car had enough torgue for my California driving.

I am really pleased with this car, but am a new owner of it. I'm blown away by the distronic option! Hard to image that they can't get an IPOD connector as a standard feature, yet manage to get a lasar cruise control that works great!!

If you wait (and try to put the 2008 driving experience in the back of your mind) you'll find better and better deals on the '07s as the year ends.

Mdav - Can you post the details about your purchase - Packages, Color's etc...

I'm assuming if it had distronic it must be loaded?

recent purchase

This car is fully loaded, minus the Pano roof --has P02 Premium II and AMG sport packages + Voice Control + clear bra and bluetooth adapter (BT adapter was part of negotiation -- that's when you KNOW for a fact that you are leaving money on the table!!). Did not have the run flat tires, and that was a plus for me. Did have sat radio with 3 months free. CD changer (standard I think). Heated and vented seats are part of the P3 package. Distronic and Parktronic are also part of the P3 package, I believe. Ditto with keyless go, massage seats, homelink, etc.

Iridium Silver with black seats and Burl Walnut Trim. Was kinda looking for charcoal seats, just didn't want the light color from previous experience in another car.

If it will help in your negotiations, I can get a copy of the window sticker for you. Original MSRP = $109,855
