AMG Wheel Option?

Does anyone know if the SL55AMG will have wheel options other than the standard ( read ugly and hard to clean) wheels we have all seen in the pictures on the internet?

i know i'm sure hoping it does! those wheels have some nice qualities about them, but they do look like a nightmare to keep clean. they also smell a bit too "refined".

if you do a Build Your Own on the mbusa site the S55 has two other wheel options besides stock; and the R129 SL500 has five other wheel options besides stock.

don't see why they'd suddently stop offering options.

I'm with Doody.

Hopefully the SL55 will come with the option of those 5-spoke SLR-like wheels. That would definitely be awesome.

Regardless, though, each M-B seems to come with a gazillion wheel choices. The R230 should be no different.

wow - those SLR wheels are serious business!

http://www.autopictures.com/slr/index5.html

way cool stuff, but i think i'll pass on those for my SL55 - they're monstrously beasty!

If you look at the German price list http://www.mercedes-benz.de/mbd/pdf/Sl-fi.pdf - there are the 5 spoke AMG 18" alloys as a no cost option. (option 790)

Reading an magazine article recently, AMG say that if you put 19" wheels on the SL55 it tramlines slightly.

I personally dont like the turbine like alloys (and the cleaning that will be needed, and will probably opt for the option 790)

fwiw <DiamlerChrysler…Mercedes Benz P-Cars…Special Topics> includes this paragraph:

Stuttgart, Sep 21, 2001

“incenio - designer wheels from Mercedes-Benz”. Under this name, Mercedes-Benz is presenting its range of accessory light-alloy wheels at the IAA in Frankfurt. The Italian-sounding name “incenio” serves to highlight the designer appeal, at the same time creating an association with passion and individuality. The name “incenio” covers the range of light-alloy wheels being offered by Mercedes-Benz; the range for AMG will continue to be called “AMG light-alloy wheels”.

Later, we read this:

AMG – all the excitement of motor racing

For 30 years now, AMG has been synonymous with the excitement of motorsport and the will to win. And this is expressed, quite naturally, in the AMG series of light-alloy wheels. Here, lovers of sporty appearance will find the right wheel for each model series. Including three new wheels for SL-Class Roadster.

Looks like the split 5-spoke wheels on my Z06. You CA guys know anything about Victoria Wheel's rechroming reputation?
