Help! Trunk boot lid not closing! urgent
Well I had my top down on the way back home, opened my trunk midway to add something, and now my trunk doesn't close completely.
I tried everything, slammed it down, and it doesn't close by itself anymore.
If I try to put the top back on, I get the warning "close boot lid"
I hope it doesn't rain soon, I have no idea what to do..
Any help please?

Do the door locks still work? If not then it's probably the vacuum pump. If they do then the trunk assist latch if probably bad. Not a major problem.

I'm experiencing the same problem with the trunk assist. The dealer quoted me $1,200 (pump is $900). I told him to leave it alone.
I need to source it from an aftermarket store, anyone know where?
I'm still going to try the disconnect for 20 second method first.

I will try the DIY soon to see if my trunk assist still works, which I doubt... but will give it a try!

2003 SL500 Trunk Can't Open
My SL500 occasionally not able to close & latch the trunk properly. I recently followed suggestions from the forum and found a vacuum leak on the latch mechanism; which I used super glue to seal the leak at the big port and also the rest of the remaining small, unleaked ports as a precaution. Now putting everything back, the trunk locks & latches fine but it won't open with the remote anymore; instead, I have to use the mechanical key to open it. The remote is no longer able to open & lock the doors as well. I've disconnected the Neg side of the service battery several times to reset but still no luck. Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated. Notice, when ever I tri to open the trunk with the smart key, I still hear the latch actuates but it won't pop open the trunk. Please help.

trunk lid opens when it closes
I have a 4 month "old" 2014 MB E-250 CDI. Great auto, but the trunk often opens after I press the "lock" or "close trunk" button.
Since I am under the new car warrantee, MB has ordered a new cable and trunk handle. Seems like a waste to have that costly repair.
You would think they could just repair something? Nicht wahr?

Thanks for the write up. I was just coming back into this thread because the trunk assist doesn't work anymore, I've learnt to slam the trunk so it closes it completely
