Unhappy Messed up my Nav screen

The other day I decided I was going to clean my navigation screen and that is when I made a huge mistake. I grabbed a glass wipe that I use on the windows and I wiped the screen off. I then realized that I just removed the tint. I have used these wipes on my wives ML350 screen and never had a problem. I guess I never realized that SL screen had a tint on it. I can now see on the very edges of the screen where the tint still is. This made me sick. Anyone know if there is any type of tint spray or something to fix this?

There are several companies that make screen protector films. Probably the best is Lexerd. You can try one of these protectors and if you don't like it - it is easily removed.

I should have updated this post. I had taken in the car to my local dealership for inspection a few weeks ago and I had mentioned the screen issue. The dealership had one of their detailers take a look at it. I do not know what he did but it looks brand new. I am super happy. They did not charge me a dime for it. It means a lot to have a dealership that will take care of problems that was not their fault.

You are fortunate. It seems that every time I take my cars to the dealer they correct the problem and create 2 new ones.

RJR - Thanks for the info. That is the dealer and service manager I use. I will discuss with him.

Screen....

You can buy a replacement. I bought one for my SL55 that was scratched. I cannot remember where I bought it....it was around $100....

Lightbulb Replacement Screens

OK - I've been hunting through the forum here and on a few other Benz/BMW sites... Please take a look at the screen damage I'm experiencing in the attached image. For those of us who have damaged screens (worse than just losing the anti-reflective coating) there are a few resources for buying replacement LCD screens that can be installed in our COMAND units:

MBDoctor - They sell Sharp LCD replacement screens for $399
eBay seller eflow666 - Repairs some COMAND units, but not Seimens/VDO units even though its just a simple LCD replacement. He just wont.
EuroCustoms, Inc - Sells the Sharp LCD replacement screen for $258.99 and will do the actual replacement for an additional $25 if you mail him the COMAND unit.

I'm guessing that any local laptop or electronics repair shop can perform the actual labor (it's just a matter of removing the faulty screen and replacing with the new LCD.) Anyone familiar with replacing LCDs should be able to do this. The problem is getting the actual part number of the Sharp LCDs in our COMAND units.

Does anyone know the Sharp part # for the various COMAND units (or in my particular case, a 2005 SL500 w/DVD based COMAND)???

allenjdmb - Any chance you can look up where you purchased your replacement LCD or if you have the model number?

We can likely purchase the LCDs at a very low price and just have a local shop do the work. If we can't figure out the exact Sharp part #, I think I'll just use EuroCustoms, but would prefer not to because of the price and they're located in California and I'm down in south Florida. Any further info would be hugely helpful! Thanks everybody!
