MB SL is No. 1 !!!

Guys and gals, we drive the most likely to get ticketed car in the US! Must be all the mods we are doing on this forum... or we are just one crazy bunch!

http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/auto...-get-a-ticket/

according to this report, we are 4X more likely to get ticket, and there are apparently more women who drive the SL then men??? had no idea! I am definitely wayyyy below the average age on that report... wonder how accurate this is... very surprising consdering that there arent that many SL's around, compared to Camry's and Scions at least!

actually, if you go down the list, there are 3 MB's on the list of the top 10! total domination! The CLS63 and CLK63... For the SL...it's just SL, no 500 or 550 or 63? wierd!

Yeah, I saw that report.

I had the Hummer H2. Within the first year I got a speeding ticket up in Washington state, and I was on a 2-lane road in a line of traffic of at least 5 other cars, all of us doing about 10-over. I was the last in the line. Yet I was the only one stopped (luck of the draw? the easiest to stop? the only one with Calif plates?).

Now have this 2005 SL, and after about two years, no ticket ... so far.

I read that report as well and what I really didn't get was that there are more women driving sl's then men???

since the current model was released in 02/03 i have only seen maybe 3 women driving this car. maybe its different elsewhere

All the more reason to have a radar detector. That $400 investment has saved me, at least, 3 tickets over the last 4.5 years that I've had it.

The trick to speeding in packs is to not be first or last. Best to be second with a decent gap between the vanguard and yourself. The first in line may raise the ire of the law so much that they pass all the others to get him/her. The last in line may be the only one that they can catch (or is the easiest to catch.)

Saved me from 2 tickets today! 90 in a 70, and 45 in a 35.

Maybe I better slow down

Yeah, I'm pretty conservative with my driving, as I was that day... I thought. I didn't think any of us deserved a ticket. But, for whatever reason, I suppose I was just too tempting of a target to ignore.

Oh well, live and learn.

Live and learn indeed. I've done plenty of that so far.

I was talking with some friends the other day and we crossed this subject (driving offenses). One thing to watch out for is the upcoming election cycle. Officers tend to crack down on crime as we get closer to election time to boost those numbers. Watch your rear-view mirrors people! I know I am.
