2009 Silver Arrow edition purchase
Thinking about purchasing a 2009 SL550 Silver Arrow edition - know that in 2009, body changes were significant from 2008. Are there any major items that I should "watch out" for? Does anybody know the major options that were available for this model (besides the $13k silver arrow option)?
Thanks - appreciate any feedback that can be given!!

You looking at the one in St. Louis, MO? Talked to a guy at a bank that was helping sell for an 84yr old trust client. Car is supposed to only have 7k miles on it. I was interested until he said the owner wanted $70k and already had offers of $55k & $62k. I think there are 2 or 3 others for sale around the country and most are asking around $67k.
From what I can tell, the Silver Arrow pkg had pretty much everything you could want like keyless go, parktronic, pano roof, blk lacquer int trim, airscarf & 19" wheels.
Be aware that some claim theirs is #1 of 550 as ALL of them have the same console plaque that says 1 of 550.

Thanks SteveL1 for info - thought that distronic cruise was an option on the car. Have not seen one that had that yet though. Most silver arrows I looked at had fairly low mileage (less than 20k) and we're looking between $65k and $72. Have you heard of any common issues that I should be looking for?

Just the same issues as all the others. From what I've read, they were the first 550 made of the new body style so there may be a few little bugs here or there. Bottom line is if you like the color combo and can afford it, get one and enjoy it.

What year(s) did MB make SL550 Silver Arrows
I have a 2009 Silver Arrow and just love it. Whether it is no1 or no.549 - who knows. Is this the only year that these were made? I have heard of the White Arrow - but I think that is 2013. Greatly appreciate any help. Thanks

1. yes...all 2009 Silver Arrows have same dash plaque (1 -of 550).
2. Flush ABC System around 30K.or depending on age.
3. You may wish to change brake pads to AKABONO (less dust on wheels)
4. Find a good independent MB shop that also has friends dealership as some items are still under warranty (brake control unit to name one) Just saved $1900.00 repair.
5. Keep up with regular service.
6. You will enjoy the car...they are great!......and the red interior makes the whole car pop!

Make sure it's not using coolant through a known head bolt (stretched) problem on 2009's. I had that issue. Thank goodness I purchased an extended warranty and it was covered it. Mine wasn't very obvious (no visible leakage) and it took a while to track down. Every week or so the low coolant light would come on and it would need topped off. Dealer pressure checked it overnight and said it was fine and replaced the cap and a hose. Kept happening and I took it back in... and voila - there it was lurking/discovered.

No 2009 SL 63 is what I'm talking about. However, not sure if the same problem would apply to the 6.2 N/A on a c63 as well.
