Sl500 Gear shift linkage removal

Hi

In the process of repairing my sl500 stuck in park. Have the console off and the shifter freebut cannot see how to remove the linkage.

Searching for hours now and cant find a procedure. Can anyone help

Thanks very much for your reply, this article is helpful but still does not explain the procedure to remove the mechanical linkage on the underside of the selector.
Thanks again, looks like not much info anywhere about this.

Shifter Linkage Issue

Hello - I am currently having the issue with the shifter being stuck in park. I have taken apart the interior and have all put the following done:

* The shifter will not move out of park - I have tried the hammer trick to no avail.
* I have the front bolt left on the shifter assembly. The one that is covered by the pin. I cannot move the pin in order to remove that bolt.
* The shifter linkage is still attached. I have been under the vehicle, and cannot find the bolt/torx to remove.

Can anyone help with advise on these issues?

Hi, looking for some of your guidance on how you were able to remove the shift linkage. By putting the shift in drive, it moves the pin to an accessible area under the car (once you remove the bracket that hold the under carriage plastic shield). I can access the pin, just not sure if there's a clip or similar to remove from the gear selector, or does it just pop off. Thx

You can only slide the heat shield back, but this gets you enough room to get under the linkage pin at the shift. Jay how did you get the shifter out once you removed the transmission linkage? I managed to get the three bolts loose. However, i could not get the front bolt out due to a pin. Did you have to remove the entire center console? There is a support bracket that sits above the shifter preventing it from coming out. My first thought was to cut the support bracket. Just thought I would fish around and see if anyone managed to get the shifter out without removing the entire console.
