SL500 Throttle delay, car surges/lurches forward
My wife has complained recently that from time to time on her SL that she depresses the throttle and the car doesn't move, then will suddenly lurch forward. Her fear is running into someone/something. I haven't been able to duplicate it, and the dealership was obviously unable to find anything (No Malfunctions in the Computer, etc).
Anyone have similar problems with this?
The three possible area I could see effecting it would be:
-Sticking Brake by Wire....
-Sticking Throttle by Wire.......
-Transmission issue......
Thanx in advance.

Sounds like she just needs to drive the car more so she can get used to the "throttle by wire" feel.
What seems to support that is that YOU dont have that problem.
Good luck!

Tell her to pause after selecting gear, apply the throttle gently, then as soon as she feels (and she will) the clutch take up the slack - give it more throttle. A subtle balance, a sweet touch needed, but I know exactly what she means.

If she doesn't like it she can upgrade the transmission software by taking it to rentech or somewhere similar. Should make a big difference, immediate throttle reponse and sportier gear shifting speeds/locations.

Resetting the ECU might help
Purchased my SL used and it did that when i first got it. I almost got hit by a semi the first time it happened. Almost wish i had because something on it breaks every month without fail. Instructions are below, hope it helps.
It will be faster after you reset it so be careful.
1. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.
2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.
3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset.
