Buying Advice: How should I proceed?
I am interested in a SL600. Car is located several hundred miles away at a MB dealer. It seems to be taken care of per car fax. Price seems right.
Would you suggest I buy this car without first looking at it?
Since, seller is a MB dealer and per SA they have performed equivalent of CPO inspection, so a PPI is a moot point? Right!
If not, what would you suggest I do to move forward on this purchase.

It seems to me from the carfax that it sure has gone through a lot of batteries. I'm not sure what to make of that. My car is a sl500 so maybe that causes the difference. Personally since this is a complex car I would always go see, drive it, etc; before spending my cash.

This car has had 10 batteries in 13 years, clearly there's an electrical issue which has not been corrected (last battery was less than 2 years ago). I wouldn't touch it unless this issue is reflected in a very attractive price, and certainly not without an inspection to find out what else might be wrong with it.

Thank you moretch & keitheva for the input. Battery issue had me alarmed. But what is not certain is whether each instance of replacements was for same kind (main or aux battery). Aux may fail if car is not driven much and battery is let to drain completely multiple times.

In addition to a battery, how many tires were replaced? And many times just one tire at a time. Transmission mounts replaced twice in three years, same for motor mounts. I wonder, if this car was driven very agressively?

someone paid dearly for those motor mounts as engine removal is required to get them on the v12 and takes 20-25 hours of labor.
usually when one wheel is replaced along with the splash shield the car hit something like a curb pretty hard at a good speed and bent the wheel and ripped off the underbody splash shield.
