You know you own a R230...
I've seen this thread type on other forums so I figured, why not here?
When:
- You pray to hear that final click when the trunk closes (soft-close feature).
- You cross your fingers every time the car starts in hopes that all the warning lights turn off.
- You have that sinking feeling when the Battery of Death icon stays on.
- Every trip to the store becomes a half-hour journey.
- You find yourself turning around at least once when walking away from the car.
- You wonder why you waited so long to buy one.
- Although she's not a full blown exotic, reading all the high-end classifieds (everyday) just isn't so important as it once was...
True story (just happened last week): My wife wasn't real keen on me selling my C Class Coupe for the 08 SL550 and always had some disparaging remark whenever we drove together. Fast forward two months - She asks to take the car to work with an "of course honey" reply. I received a call about an hour later from her, and I quote: "Ok, I get it now..." Life's good!

Cool thread! I'll add...
- You breathe a sigh of relief when you smell something like burning diesel fuel that turns out to be a crappy old truck on the road and not a blown ABC hose.
- You drive around for a week and don't see another single SL on the road but yours.

How true. There's actually a new SL in my area but the owner's a pu@#ey as he only drives it on clear, dry days... I drive mine in whatever!
Other than that one, I'm the only game in town.

Another "when" moment:
When the roof closes and the locks set, and the roof in operation lights go out on the instrument display.

Here's another one: You're given a brand new GLA loaner (2,700 miles) while she's in for service and already begin missing the SL just driving out of the lot. The GLA may have a refreshed, new interior but it's a rat trap for all you (ok, I) care (although you do appreciate the free loaner).

...when after 4 years of ownership, many, many repairings and upgrades and a couple of serious issues, just end up reading such post and feeling completely identified with each and every one of you guys. In such a way as to register and just needin´to write it up.

Another "You Know You Own an R230" brain fart:
You know you own an R230 when Dilbert in his Mustang or, worse still, a Dodge pulls alongside you at a stop light and guns his engine repeatedly, like he wants a piece of you. It's always fun to laugh at Dilberts.

When you're getting the concrete driveway redone, so you put the '09 SL in the storage garage and leave the '15 S class in the street. Within 48 hours you suffer separation anxiety and have to go drive the SL for an hour or so. (of course you return it later that day since it CANNOT sleep outside)

In love with a stripper stage name "R230"
I look at my R230 as a hot stripper... i keep on throwing money at her... So she can take me for the ride of my life every moment I see her...

Here's another one:
...when you get pulled over for no other reason except you are driving an SL.
I get pulled over about once a month by some jack wagon cop that is just curious to see who is driving the car. I never get a citation as I've done nothing wrong, but it's still annoying. The last time (two weeks ago) was when I did not "stop" at a yield sign. Yes, he actually claimed that, and then let me go with a verbal warning to "slow down". So, was I failing to stop or driving too fast? I'm so confused!
