SL/R230: Brake disc wear depth
A discernible lip has formed on the rear discs on my R230. How much is OK? The pads appear to have quite a bit of life left in them. I plan on replacing discs and pads at the same, but that may be next year, just guessing at the life left in the pads.
And just a sidebar question: why do the rear discs wear faster than the front discs? Seems like the front discs do a lot more work ... and should be expected to wear faster. I had the same experience on wife's W211 ... rear discs wore faster than fronts.

Yours is a 230.471 and likely with the sport package (code 951), so it would be the last one - minimum rotor thickness of 22mm (replace when below 22.5mm).
I searched You Tube for videos of R230 brake jobs ... no joy. Aside from disabling SBS via SDS, is there anything special to know about this work?
Thanks also for the Zimmerman-Akebono replacement parts tip. Duly noted. Do you have a vendor (or vendors) you can recommend?
@Heatwave - here are pads, rotors and sensors. +1 to going with Zimmerman rotors and Akebono pads (low dust and noise). Great alternative to Genuine MB parts. I am always here if you ever have any questions about parts. You can also shoot me a PM with the last 8 digits of your vin number and I can confirm fitment/put a quote together for you.
